Job Description

Amperity is more than just the leading customer data platform — THE PEOPLE bring energy, smarts, and experience from all different backgrounds, reflecting our commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion. THE TECHNOLOGY is multi-patented, AI-powered customer data management software that we invented to help solve problems that have been frustrating consumer brands for years. THE OPPORTUNITY is to hitch your career to a rocket ship. We're addressing a critical market need: helping hundreds of leading brands make sense of massive amounts of transactional and engagement data so that they can understand their customers and provide experiences that delight while boosting revenue and moving the business metrics that matter. Come help us make it happen!

The Team

Amperity maintains a full-time, dedicated information security team led by our Head of Security who reports directly to Amperity’s CTO and Co-founder. The team’s internal name is PSST, which stands for Privacy, Security, Safety, and Trust, the four key elements the team is responsible for delivering on behalf of everyone associated with Amperity.

As an early member of the PSST team, you will have the opportunity to help establish the foundational principles and methodologies that will define us for years to come.  Our technology-first approach means you will be using state of the art tools and spending less time wallowing in spreadsheets.  We are committed to growing a diverse and inclusive community dedicated to keeping the customers and employees of Amperity safe.

The Role

As a Security Engineer, you will be foundational in implementing the tools, technologies, and processes that keep our customer data safe.  You will work closely with engineering and product from feature design through launch; influencing secure design choices, performing risk assessments, threat modeling, identifying vulnerabilities, and contributing directly to the codebase.

Interesting Problems
  • Implement security tools and processes at all stages of the SDLC, focusing on automation, real-time feedback, and empowering individuals.
  • Drive a culture of continuous improvement within the security team, engineering, and Amperity as a whole.
  • Build scalable solutions that can take a scrappy startup into the enterprise
  • Improve the efficiency of our security analysts by identifying opportunities for tools and automation.
  • Leverage state-of-the-art security tools to analyze our modern and evolving product stack.
  • Evangelize Amperity’s security culture using your passion and creativity to develop security champions throughout the company
About You
  • At least 3-5 years of experience in security engineering or DevSecOps
  • 2-3 years of practical programming experience in languages such as Python, Java, C#, GoLang, etc.
  • Passion for building security automation and tools.
  • Excitement about collaborating with others on large projects
  • Comprehensive understanding of the software development lifecycle and how security can be improved at every step.
  • You are a self-starter with a Swiss Army Knife of technical skills that you are looking to expand.
  • Creative & versatile approach to problem-solving with technology - you are comfortable tackling complex ambiguous problems and driving towards solutions.
  • Ability to interact directly with internal customers to understand pain points and iterate on solutions
  • Experience working in a fast-paced, swiftly-changing startup environment
