Senior Infrastructure Automation Engineer (100% Remote)

We are looking for a Senior Infrastructure Automation Engineer to innovate, win, and grow with us in Portsmouth, NH.

This role can also be hybrid or 100% remote. This is a full-time/permanent position

Position Summary:

In this role you will be part of our Core Platform Engineering agile team.  You must be motivated and able to independently design and implement infrastructure automation that meets requirements of Bottomline’s business segments.  You will work as an internal consultant who will apply infrastructure-as-code and CI/CD principles to help product teams build, deploy, configure, and manage their container-based and server infrastructure in hybrid cloud environments.  Problem-solving skills as well as broad domain experience are required.  You must be able to communicate effectively both verbal in written form and be able to impart knowledge effectively in one-on-one or group settings.  The ability to work effectively with all roles who support cloud-based infrastructure and delivery pipelines (product developers, DBAs, network engineers, system administrators, and site reliability engineers) is essential.

How you’ll contribute:

We need a senior engineer to act as our technical lead on our Core Platform Engineering team.  We are an internal “consulting” (team are all FTE’s) group that help development teams build their cloud infrastructure.  We provide the tools and expertise that enable them to do their jobs.  Everything we do is centered on "infrastructure as code" concepts.

Team members are constantly learning in this job.  We are given problem solving challenges every day from the global development teams.  We are moving more workloads to Kubernetes and the public cloud.  You will have more opportunity to get more public cloud experience. 

Good verbal and written communication are necessary and used every day.  Because we are considered “internal consultants”, we teach others.

What will make you successful:

• 5+ years of experience in this domain (Infrastructure as a Service – IaaS)
• Four-year degree in a computer science related field or equivalent work experience
• Extensive knowledge of at least one server configuration management language (Puppet, Chef, or Ansible)
• You are experienced with infrastructure-as-code methods
• Very comfortable on the Linux OS command line
• You consistently use your programming skills to automate tasks
• You are enthusiastic about learning new technologies and spreading your knowledge
• Experience with CI/CD pipeline methods and technologies
• Experience using open source projects to build, deploy, and configure cloud infrastructure
• Comfortable with Git version control and code management best practices
• Experience with scripting languages such as Python, Ruby, Bash, Bolt, or SQL
• Experience with SSL Certificate management
• Understanding of fundamental security principles for network traffic
• Working knowledge of DNS, DHCP, NFS, TCP/IP, SMTP, and SSL

 Knowledge of additional technologies used in our environment could be advantageous.  These include:

• Kubernetes, Terraform, Git, GitLab
• Go language
• Kafka, PostgreSQL
• Amazon Web Services and Azure
• Red Hat Linux Enterprise Server, 7+
