About the Team
The Security team at Cloudflare is focused and committed to helping secure both Cloudflare and our customers. The Infrastructure Security team endeavors to secure Cloudflare's foundations by working closely with other engineering teams responsible for our global systems and networks.
Our mission is to help build security into the hardware and software that run Cloudflare's products at every level.
About the Role
We are looking for an experienced Security Engineer to help us in our mission to build a better internet. This engineer will create and manage on-going security controls directly responsible for securing the numerous, complex networks within Cloudflare. In this role, they will be expected to partner directly with members of our network engineering and infrastructure teams to build the future of Cloudflare's secure network.
As a member of the team, you can expect to:

• Build and deploy internal services and tools focused on enhancing and enforcing secure network connectivity patterns
• Work with our network engineering and SRE teams to protect our globally distributed systems
• Establish and maintain secure interconnectivity across a broad range of systems and services
• Collaborate with the full Cloudflare security team to improve detections of any potential security events

Examples of desirable skills, knowledge, and experience

• Deep understanding of secure network design at all levels
• Extensive knowledge of BGP and other routing protocols
• Experience with modern Linux security practices and administration experience
• Strong tooling and automation development experience
• Experience with automation tools like Salt, Ansible, Terraform, Chef, etc.

Awesome skills and experience to have, but not required:

• Experience with network programming in C, C++, golang, rust
• Open Source Routing Daemons (FRR, Bird, GoBGP)
• Experience with SONiC, Cumulus, or other Linux-based open Network Operating Systems
• Experience with modern observability platforms (Prometheus/PromQL, Grafana, etc.

Compensation
Compensation may be adjusted depending on work location.

• For Colorado-based hires: Estimated annual salary of $168,000 - $206,000.
• For New York City-based hires: Estimated annual salary of $187,000 - $229,000.

Equity
This role is eligible to participate in Cloudflare's equity plan.
