Senior Instructional Design Specialist (Hybrid)


Greenleaf Integrative (www.greenleafintegrative.com) provides high quality training and support
services to enhance the resiliency and performance of professionals working in demanding environments.

This position supports a government client based in Washington, DC. This is a Hybrid position which allows for telework but requires an in-office commitment on a weekly basis.

Position Overview:

The Sr Instructional Design Specialist position will help create visually compelling, interactive, performance-based courses that drive positive learner outcomes through role-specific content, experiential learning activities, and cognitive learner exercises. This role will coordinate with team members, clients, and various stakeholders, lead the development of course content and design, and ensure the courses meet the highest quality standards and are transferable to an in-person, e-learning, or hybrid environment. Training topics include, but are not limited to the following subjects: new employee orientation, technical sectors (e.g. shelters and settlements, food assistance, economic recovery), grants management, safety and security overseas, and operational stress mitigation. The successful candidate will have above average emotional intelligence, communication skills, and conflict management skills.

Job duties:
ISD

  • Lead instructional design strategies in a multidisciplinary team of training and education professional.
  • Lead the design and development of technology-based courses with a heavy emphasis on Self-Directed eLearning, instructor-led training (ILT), virtual training, or other instructional methodology packages in accordance with sound instructional design principles and Greenleaf's focus on trauma-informed design
  • Lead the development of Instructor Led Training using best practices in instructional design and adult learning principles for various delivery options, such as eLearning, classroom training, and blended learning
  • Conduct needs assessments and convey results to variety of stakeholders
  • Expertly use appropriate course authoring tools to create instructional material such as online courses, guides, handouts, worksheets, or manuals to optimize learning and manipulate and edit digital imagery, video and sound
  • Lead the collaboration of internal and external staff and SMEs on e-learning projects, including developing new training and updating existing training
  • Train and mentor Trainers and Instructional Designers in use of e-learning development tools

Project Management

  • Develop, maintain and implement project management methodologies, standards, and tools in support of course design, development and rollout
  • Conduct project meetings and prepare regular reports to communicate the status of projects to stakeholders within and beyond the project team
  • Resolve issues that serve as roadblocks and/or place project objectives at risk. Identifies and provides visibility into trade-offs between options, while identifying recommended approaches
  • Perform project close-out steps to include identifying lessons learned/best practices to inform the success of future projects. Applies continuous improvement methodologies throughout the project management lifecycle.
  • Train and mentor Trainers and Training & Development Specialists
  • Position may require occasional local and international travel
  • Other duties as assigned

 

Basic Requirements:

  • Minimum years of relevant experience (varies by highest degree):
    • Education, Training and Development, Instructional Design, or another relevant field 
    • 15-yrs experience with Bachelors degree OR
    • 12-yrs experience with Masters degree OR
    • 8-yrs experience with PhD
  • US Citizenship
  • Ability to obtain and maintain an interim and final secret security clearance

  • Proven experience designing content for the e-learning environment
  • Skilled in managing end-to-end, instructional design process-based methodology (analysis, design, storyboarding, development, implementation, and evaluation)
  • Proven expertise in the design and development of products using Articulate Storyline 360, Adobe Captivate, and the Adobe Creative Cloud suite
  • Demonstrated expertise in needs assessment and measurement of the effectiveness of training
  • Demonstrated experience with digital learning solutions such as videos, infographics, simulations, gamification, audio, microlearning, and rapid-development multimedia
  • Designing and facilitating instructor-led training that engages participants in active learning experiences
  • Close collaboration with SMEs, including providing coaching and feedback
