The Senior Investment Accountant will record and control the ICW Groups investment transactions and maintain an inventory of the investment portfolio. This position exists to ensure accuracy in record keeping and suitability and productivity in investment transactions, in turn increasing the Company's profitability.

WHAT YOU WILL DO

Prepares journal entries and manages reconciliations.

  • Prepares journal entries for all investment transactions such as purchase, sale, interest, premium, amortization, accrual of discount, options, cash transfer, repurchase agreement, etc.
  • Works with brokers to complete investment transactions including reconciling brokers' statements.
  • Identifies, researches, resolves, and follows up on problems and opportunities generated by the reconciliation of accounts including any inefficiency of department policies and procedures.
  • Calculates accrued investment income and prepares the related journal entries.

Creates reports, schedules, and maintains accurate records, as required.

  • Prepares reports and schedules required by insurance departments and other regulatory agencies.
  • Keeps records of securities deposited with the various government organizations.
  • Prepares management reports for senior leadership review of key investment balances, results, and trends. Ensures completeness, accuracy, and timely delivery of completed results.
  • Seeks and proposes methods for continuing process improvements in the reporting, analysis, and system functions.

Manages investment portfolio and activity.

  • Serves as the primary contact to investment manager and all outside investing relationships.
  • Creates daily, monthly, quarterly, and yearly reports given to upper management, CFO, and CEO.
  • Prepares investment and cash schedules for quarterly and annual statements, including the purchase and sales schedules and schedule "D".
  • Manages all parts of the investment portfolio, including any changes deemed necessary, solves any investment related problems, and creates forward looking projects that would help management fully understand ICW Group's investment and investment relationships.
  • Facilitates meetings and connections with custodian and investment managers to ensure all business transactions can be handled promptly and with ease.

Monitors, analyzes, and reconciles cash activities against multiple custodians such as Banks, Investment Firms, and auditors within standard operating procedures.

  • Responds to auditor's requests for quarter-end and year-end audit items including process walkthroughs, controls documentation, and ad-hoc analysis.
  • Prepares audit schedules in accordance with the Company's external auditors' requirements.

WHAT YOU BRING TO THE ROLE

  • Bachelor's degree from four-year college or university required with a major or emphasis in Accounting, Business Administration, or related field.
  • Minimum 3 years of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience required.
  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA) preferred.

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS

  • Working knowledge of investment accounting required.
  • Familiarity of insurance industry desirable.
  • Requires excellent computer skills, especially Microsoft Excel and Word.
  • Knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and state regulations.
  • Strong technical accounting and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong analytics skills to interpret and evaluate financial results, Ability to work directly with executive management regarding investment transactions.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to use independent judgement and discretion to identify key trends or issues.
  • Support effective partnerships with key groups and individuals and have good consultation and change management skills.

COMPENSATION

The salary range listed for this position, $65,220.24 to $109,989.53, is exclusive of fringe benefits and potential bonuses. If hired at ICW Group, your final base salary compensation will be determined by factors such as skills, experience and/or education. In addition, we believe in the importance of pay equity and consider internal equity of our current team members as part of any final offer. We typically do not hire at the maximum of the range in order to allow for future and continued salary growth. We also offer a substantial benefits package outlined below.
