Job Summary
The Senior Investment Writer collaborates with investment professionals and other subject-matter experts to craft compelling stories that showcase AB's expertise and distinctive insights, building the firm's brand and supporting conversations about solutions. To accomplish this, the Senior Investment Writer must be highly skilled at conceiving, creating and enhancing high-impact thought leadership and other types of content for diverse audiences while channeling the firm's voice and persona.
Job Description
Specific responsibilities of the Senior Investment Writer include, but are not limited to:
- Creating thought leadership and other content to support AB's distinctive insights and solutions across asset classes, regions and businesses, taking topics from initial ideation to final deliverables, including blogs, white papers, articles, annotated charts and infographics.
- Applying comprehensive knowledge of macroeconomics, capital markets, asset classes and investment strategies to partner with investors, analysts, product experts, strategists and other experts to turn raw research, insights and data into high-impact stories.
- Collaborating with channel marketing and business development colleagues to align thought-leadership stories with trending topics, product and platform engagement and conversations, and distinctive views that build AB's brand.
- Being a trusted, creative partner to colleagues in investments, global marketing, channel marketing and business development in the process of shaping messages and diverse communication formats. The aim is to maximize impact by applying AB's writing best practices, including clarity, structure, voice and brand persona.
Job Qualifications & Key Attributes
The ideal candidate for Senior Investment Writer should:
- Have a minimum of 7-10 years of investment and capital-markets writing experience, with a focus on the professional investment management industry.
- Bring extensive technical knowledge of macroeconomics, investment conditions and trends, and portfolio-construction theory as well as the character of asset classes-a must for translating investment insights into compelling thought leadership.
- Be adept at writing and communicating in an approachable, concise, straightforward tone (see examples on AB's Context blog), Elevate wide-ranging content formats including blog posts, white papers, web copy, presentations, displays and emails. Strong skills in adjusting the "altitude" of messages for diverse audiences ranging from global institutions to individual investors.
- Possess the ability to engage directly with investment experts, digesting complex topic matter and discrete data and information points. Use deep understanding of the interrelationships of macro variables, investing trends and market conditions to craft relatable stories that pique interest, balance depth of insight with a clear point of view, and feature a strong narrative.
- Have excellent collaboration skills, including the ability to partner with subject-matter experts, production and design artists, business development managers, content directors and proofreaders. Candidates should be able to contribute their own points of view and be open to those of others.
- Thrive in a fast-paced environment, delivering consistently outstanding results on multiple parallel projects while under pressure and on tight deadlines. Relentlessly advance initiatives, galvanizing stakeholders and contributors into action while remaining collegial and empowering.
Required Technical Skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint. Additional technical and quantitative abilities, particularly investment or finance related, are a clear benefit in a role that requires working with highly technical subject matter and research results.
Location: Remote
In accordance with Section 8-107(32) as set forth in the New York City Human Rights Law, the minimum and maximum base annual salary for this role is as follows:
Base Salary Range: $150k to $200k
Actual base salaries may vary based on factors including but not limited to education, training, experience, past performance, and other job-related factors. Base salary is just one component of total compensation at AB, which may include, depending on eligibility, commissions, year-end incentive compensation, short- and long-term incentives and Department-specific awards. In addition AB provides a variety of benefits to employees, including health insurance coverage, an employee wellness program, life and disability insurance, a retirement savings plan, paid holidays, sick and vacation time off.
