Senior IT Auditor
Job Description
The Senior Auditor position within the Digital Transformation Audit Services Team will be based in Chicago. The successful candidate will report to the Digital Transformation Manager, who is also based in Chicago, and will lead audits of business-critical digital transformation initiatives across Northern Trust. This includes providing oversight to the audit team and communicating results of the engagement to management.
The candidate will interact and build relationships with management in Northern Trust's Technology organization and Business Units. The Senior Auditor provides technical expertise and training to auditors within the engagement audit team and work closely with the Audit Manager to confirm the scope of the audit and to devise an appropriate testing approach to be performed during the engagement.. Given the nature of the audits that this candidate will oversee, they will be provided with the opportunity to apply and expand their experience in working with emerging digital technologies and capabilities, including artificial intelligence, machine learning, natural language processing, robotic process automation, and public cloud.
Principal Responsibilities
Leadership and Management
- Establishes and develops strong working relationships and open communication with key stakeholders
- Accountable for own assignments, including proactively managing expectations
Operational
- Act as a trusted advisor to stakeholders of Audit Services through the performance of audit and advisory work intended to proactively identify risk on digital transformation activities occurring across Northern Trust
- Provide technical expertise on audit work to drive digital coverage and awareness across the audit universe
- Identifies technology and cyber risk and controls within processes
- Communicates the audit status to business unit stakeholders and Audit Services management
- Drafts findings and recommendations for the purpose of status updates, memos, and audit reports
- Maintain technical competence by ongoing training, seeking development opportunities and applying new knowledge to daily work assignments

- A college or university degree, ideally in Computer Science, Information Systems, Accounting, or Finance
- Minimum of 2-3 years of IT auditing and systems experience
- Advanced auditing experience, with a focus in the financial services industry or global corporations preferred
- Specific subject matter expertise in emerging technologies and understanding of the associated cyber security risks, leveraging evolving standards and established control frameworks
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Strong business acumen and understanding of the financial services industry
- Ability to adapt and react timely in a changing and dynamic work environment, tight deadlines and variable workloads
Please note that this role may require the successful candidate to travel to other NT locations as required.
