As a Senior IT Project Manager you will oversee larger and more complex Department and Federal Reserve Bank of Chicago (FRBC) and Federal Reserve System (FRS) information technology (IT) projects and business related projects. May lead FRBC projects as required. You will assemble project teams, assign individual responsibilities, develop project schedules and determine and acquire resources needed for projects. Familiar with the entire scope and requirements of projects and acts as liaison between team members and District and System leadership. You will have specialized knowledge in one or more specific technologies. The level of work is considered advanced and staff must be able to work under minimal supervision. You will also lead the work of others.
Your Responsibilities:
  • Plan, direct, and coordinate Bank and System project activities and resources to ensure project goals are completed on time, within budget and with optimum quality
  • Provide management, direction, prioritization, and conflict resolution for project teams to accomplish project goals
  • Prepare and implement detailed project plans, including definition of scope, requirements, goals, resource allocation, budget and task schedules and milestones
  • Communicate project goals and results to clients, Bank, and System management
  • Ensure ongoing use of and adherence to Federal Reserve policies and practices, including established project management methodologies and Technology Project Standards
  • May give feedback on training, development, goal development and guidance to staff; may make hiring recommendations and evaluate performance and provide feedback to staff
  • Update job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; read professional publications; maintain personal networks and participate in professional organizations
  • Be a specialist and incorporate broader knowledge of business strategies into project management
  • Consult with business and IT partners to strategize, plan, prioritize and implement needed projects within designated time and budget constraints
  • Partner with National IT development and support providers to coordinate application testing, including selection of testing environment, investigation of testing issues, and approval of code deployments
  • Maintain familiarity with technology management best practices and IT development approaches industry-wide

Your Background:
  • Bachelor's degree in related technical field or equivalent experience (Master's Degree desirable Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or other related field preferred)
  • 10+ years of direct work related experience
  • Project Management certification (i.e. PMP) or equivalent knowledge
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Demonstrated project and risk management skills including ability to manage multiple priorities, resources, customers and management with a focus on consistency and accuracy
  • Self-motivated with excellent teamwork skills
  • Independent thinker, able to make decisions and perform objective analyses
  • Possess and apply broad and specific knowledge of principles, practices and procedures in the field of specialization to the completion of assignments
  • Demonstrated ability in stakeholder engagement and management
  • Ability to explain and present complex topics to senior level stakeholders
  • In-depth knowledge of project-management software applications and methodologies ( i.e., Agile / Waterfall, MS Teams, MS Project)
  • Knowledge of IT Governance and Infrastructure, Application Development Lifecycle, Information Security Infrastructure
  • Flexibility to handle fast changing conditions

Location: This position is a Hybrid position which will require your presence in the Chicago, IL office location.
