Senior IT Systems Administrator

Job Summary

We are searching for a full-time Senior Systems Administrator to be responsible and accountable for the smooth running of our cloud and on-premises applications and services. You will champion the support, implementation, and maintenance of business user needs by developing solutions and processes that will enable organizational success. The successful candidate will have previous IT systems administration experience in an engineering company utilizing modern IT practices.

Responsibilities

• Install, configure, and maintain software and services in XaaS and on-premises environments
• Setup and maintain user and service accounts (including SSO)
• Create and maintain user documentation, policies, and procedures for applications and processes
• Build and optimize tools and processes to manage mobile devices
• Monitor performance and maintain systems using an automation-first approach
• Troubleshoot escalated issues and outages in a timely manner
• Ensure application and platform security via security best practices, patch management, and access control
• Develop expertise to train employees and junior IT staff on new technologies
• Build and maintain internal technical documentation repository, manuals, and policies

Qualifications

• 7+ years of recent work experience as System Administrator, Site Reliability Engineer, or similar role in a medium/enterprise scale organization; 9+ years overall IT experience
• Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or similar field is preferred; a combination of education, professional certifications, and work experience will be considered in lieu of a standard degree
• An automation-first mentality with experience deploying and leveraging infrastructure-as-code solutions, scripting, application self-healing methodologies, and change and version control (GitHub)
• Actionable experience with databases, networking, and patch management
• Up-to-date knowledge in application security principals and best practices
• Proficiency with on-premises, SaaS, and hybrid application configuration and management
• Strong knowledge of Windows, Linux, and macOS operating systems, mobile device management, Office 365, SSO integration, (Azure) Active Directory, and AWS (especially AWS CLI)
• Technical Bonus Points: Terraform, Ansible, VMware vSphere, VMware Workspace ONE, AWS, Government Community Cloud platforms, Powershell

• Prior work experience in a highly-regulated industry, especially within the government community

• Ability to proactively collect, manage and transfer knowledge

Physical Conditions

• Ascending or descending ladders, stairs, scaffolding, ramps, scissor lifts, articulated boom lifts and the like
• Moving self in different positions to accomplish tasks in various environments including tight and confined spaces
• Remaining in a stationary position, often standing, or sitting for prolonged periods
• Moving about to accomplish tasks or moving from one worksite to another
• Adjusting, moving, transporting, installing, positioning, or removing objects up to 25 pounds in all directions

The salary range for this position is $112,100 to $131,800 for employees working onsite at our Alameda, CA headquarters. The range provided in this job posting represents the typical range or starting rate of candidates hired in California.  Factors that may be used to determine your actual salary may include your education, experience, knowledge, skills, abilities, the market data for your work location, and a comparison to other employees already in the role.
