This Opportunity

WSP is currently initiating a search for a Senior ITS Engineer for our Charlotte, NC office to be involved in projects with our Advisory Services Transportation Operations Strategy Team and be a part of a growing organization that meets our client's objectives and solves their challenges.

We are recruiting a highly-motivated self-starter with practical experience in ITS research, planning, program support, design, implementation, and/or evaluation. Practical experience in supporting or implementing Transportation Systems Management & Operations (TSM&O) programs is a bonus, as is experience with next generation ITS solutions such as active traffic management, integrated corridor management, and connected & automated vehicles.

Your Impact
  • Deliver innovative technology and operational solutions to transportation sector clients.
  • Support existing projects while expanding our portfolio and service offerings to a broader set of clients.
  • Encourag ITS and TSM&O solutions.
  • Provide guidance to infrastructure owners and operators on safety, mobility, reliability, and environmental impacts of transportation through implementation of emerging technologies and innovative operational strategies.
  • Provide ITS support to include business development, project/task management, research and analysis related to industry best practices, and industry trends.
  • Develop policy guidance, implementation plans, innovative concepts and solutions for clients.
  • Author reports and white papers.
  • Work with connected & automated vehicle issues and projects in addition to other leading edge transportation technology projects.
Who You Are

Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree with a major in a transportation, engineering or technology related field.
  • Professional Registration in one or more states.
  • A minimum of 10 years of experience in the transportation industry, with progressively increasing responsibility and engagement.
  • At least five years of experience with ITS/transportation technologies, whether in planning, design, implementation, or some combination.
  • Ability to network with clients and others in the field.
  • Demonstrated written and verbal communication skills to present analytical results and recommendations to a wide variety of technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Demonstrated ability to analyze and synthesize problems, think creatively, work independently, and deliver high quality work with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to travel to client locations to support projects as needed.
  • Ability to work in a team environment.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Master's Degree is preferred.
  • 15 years of experience in the transportation industry, with progressively increasing responsibility and engagement.
