Senior Lead Refrigeration Technician

Location:Los Angeles, CA Schedule:Full-Time | On-Site Department:Facilities & Maintenance Reports to:Operations Manager Hourly Range:$40 to $50 per hour RW Zant, a trusted name in food redistribution and cold storage solutions, is looking for an experienced and highly motivated Senior Lead Refrigeration Technician to join our Los Angeles-based team. This role is ideal for a working leader who can combine deep technical expertise with the ability to lead and mentor a team while ensuring safe, efficient, and reliable facility operations. What You'll Be Responsible For: • Lead and perform hands-on preventative maintenance, inspections, diagnostics, and repairs on freon-based industrial refrigeration systems and cold storage infrastructure. • Oversee and work directly on systems utilizing: • Screw compressors • Reciprocating compressors • Semi-hermetic compressors • Troubleshoot and support minor repairs on three-phase and single-phase electrical systems throughout the facility. • Serve as the primary point of contact for external vendors and contractors, managing outsourced refrigeration and facility-related projects. • Ensure proper and accurate documentation within the Computerized Maintenance System (CMS) for all preventive and corrective actions. • Respond to and manage emergency service calls; demonstrate flexibility with occasional after-hours availability. • Drive compliance with OSHA regulations, environmental and refrigerant safety standards, and internal safety procedures. • Mentor and guide the facilities maintenance and sanitation teams, promoting high standards of safety, communication, and technical execution. • Recommend and implement process improvements related to equipment reliability, energy efficiency, and facility performance. What We're Looking For: • 3–5+ years of hands-on experience in industrial refrigeration (freon-based systems required). • Prior leadership or lead technician experience in a warehouse, manufacturing, or cold storage environment strongly preferred. • Strong understanding of compressor systems, electrical troubleshooting, and safe work practices. • Proven ability to lead and develop a team while maintaining accountability and communication across departments and vendors. • Strong communication and organizational skills, including bilingual communication (English/Spanish preferred). • Proficient in using or willing to learn a CMS to manage maintenance schedules and documentation. • Committed to safety, teamwork, and continuous improvement.
