The Role
A Site Reliability Engineer under CIB SRE Strategy & Transformation is expected to be a transformative leader with a track record of operating in an organization that values client experience, stability, resiliency and continuous improvement. The successful candidate will have deep technical expertise and the ability to partner closely with software engineering, production management and architecture teams to evaluate and validate non-functional application supportability standards and implement telemetry capabilities. Experience imbedding SRE and DevOps culture is important.
This position is global in reach, working with teams across the world to ensure consistent SRE strategy and practices. The candidate must be able to partner and influence across all levels of the organization and have the technical capabilities to support both on-premise, public cloud, legacy and modern platforms. Successful candidates will demonstrate technical acumen across a broad reach of technologies and have the proven ability to adapt to an ever-changing environment.
Job responsibilities
  • Implement and Support CIB SRE adoption strategy and drive change to transform CIB Technology to an SRE-focused support model focused on reliability and toil reduction.
  • Partner with cross line of business SRE Leads, Senior Production Managers, service providers and partner organizations to ensure consistent SRE strategy and practices (with flexibility based on business needs).
  • Identify blockers and pain points and drive solutions by partnering with and influencing infrastructure, architecture and application development teams.
  • Implement SRE training and bar raising, including training content creation
  • Define and drive adoption of non-functional standards and blueprints related to supportability - permit to operate, resiliency patterns, capacity management, observability, etc.
  • Align CIB Tech SRE strategy with Global Technology and influence Global Technology SRE strategies and priorities.
  • Build technical scope and implementation guidelines and documentation as well as prototyping technical use cases.
Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills
  • Strong knowledge and experience across multiple technology platforms, including on premise and private cloud architecture (AWS, Azure, etc.)
  • Experience with at least one programming language (Java, Python, Golang etc.)
  • Experience with SDLC tools (Terraform, Jenkins, Prometheus, Grafana, etc)
  • Ability to influence across teams, drive change and gain agreement to implement strategic standards.
  • Experience defining and driving strategic change initiatives
  • Strong communication skills, including technical writing (and ability to communicate clearly and at right level of detail)
  • Exceptional interpersonal, relationship and negotiating skills
Preferred qualifications, capabilities, and skills
  • Technical understanding of monitoring and telemetry capabilities - DataDog, CloudWatch, OpenTelemetry, AWS Certifications
  • Experience implementing observability capabilities across applications (metrics, tracing, SLOs) and infrastructure (network, OS, database, etc.).
