The Role

The Senior Lean Manager is a high-level leadership role responsible for overseeing and elevating Lean manufacturing practices within the organization. This role plays a pivotal part in shaping the overall operational excellence and strategic direction of the company. The Senior Lean Manager will provide expert guidance in the development, execution, and refinement of Lean strategies, ensuring alignment with corporate objectives and industry best practices. This position demands a seasoned professional with extensive Lean experience in the manufacturing sector, exceptional leadership capabilities, and the ability to drive transformative change across complex and dynamic environments.

What You'll Do:

  • Strategic Leadership: Collaborate closely with executive leadership to formulate and execute advanced Lean manufacturing strategies that optimize the entire organization's performance, including safety, quality, profitability, waste reduction, and team excellence.
  • Mentoring and Training: Provide mentorship, coaching, and advanced training to all organizational levels, fostering a culture of Lean methodology adoption and continuous improvement.
  • Transformational Events: Identify, plan, and lead complex Lean transformation events (Kaizen) designed to enhance the organization's safety, quality, delivery, and productivity performance.
  • 5S Excellence: Establish and sustain a robust 5S workplace culture & program, ensuring comprehensive process integration, metric development, and ownership at all organizational levels.
  • Business Performance: Drive business performance enhancements targeting zero accidents, defect-free products, on-demand and on-time delivery, and cost reduction through Lean practices.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with process owners across the organization to facilitate cross-functional decision-making and effective communication of plant-wide changes.
  • Employee Development: Facilitate employee understanding, adaptation, and growth within the organization's Lean transformation journey.
  • On-Floor Presence: Maintain a daily on-floor presence to support production teams, address operational challenges, and champion Lean principles.
  • Continuous Improvement: Conduct regular factory 5S audits and work closely with department leaders to identify and eliminate waste through kaizen activities.
  • Cost Reduction: Monitor and track all cost reduction projects to achieve maximum efficiency and cost savings.
  • Standardization: Drive the standardization of visual standards throughout the organization to enhance operational clarity and consistency.
  • Equipment Maintenance: Collaborate with operations to ensure equipment maintenance and meet daily production targets.
  • Program Management: Oversee and program manage top projects and objectives as required by the organization.
  • Create and implement Moxion's version of the TPS.

Skills to be Successful:

  • Advanced Education and Experience: Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Engineering, a science discipline, or a related field. 
  • Minimum of 8-10 years of hands-on experience in production management within a manufacturing company, with at least 5 years of direct application of Lean tools and mentoring others.
  • Certifications: Six Sigma Green Belt certification and Lean or Six Sigma certification required.
  • Leadership Experience: A minimum of 5 years of project management or team leadership experience, demonstrating a strong results-based management style and the ability to influence effectively.
  • Lean Expertise: Expert proficiency in Lean tools such as the Toyota Production System, Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, Value Stream Mapping, Kaizen, TAKT, Kanbans/Pull Systems, Single Piece Flow, Seven Wastes, 5S, Poka-Yoke, PDCA.
  • Manufacturing Experience: Extensive experience in process development/qualification, new product development, capacity/resource planning, and Lean Manufacturing.
  • Adaptability: Proven ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment while interfacing with program representatives, internal and external customers, and stakeholders across the company.
  • Strategic Thinking: Capability to develop manufacturing strategies tailored to specialized business needs and align them with corporate objectives.
  • Continuous Improvement: A commitment to pursuing continuous improvement in all aspects of the role.
  • Communication Skills: Exceptional communication skills, with the ability to present complex reports and data in a clear and concise manner.
  • Flexibility: Willingness to work extended hours based on program needs and adapt to changing circumstances.

Pay Equity

Moxion is committed to the principle of pay equity – paying employees equitably for substantially similar work. Compensation displayed is a range. Maximum amounts are reserved for those candidates that exceed all experience and background requirements. We reserve the right to offer compensation based on level of experience. Moxion has different base pay ranges for different work locations within the United States, which allows us to pay employees competitively and consistently in different geographic markets. The range above reflects the potential base pay within the San Francisco Bay area. If you live outside that region, the range is subject to change. 

Base pay is one part of our total compensation package and is determined within the range provided above. This provides the opportunity to progress as you grow and develop within a role.
