The Position

We are looking for an experienced M&A attorney with a global mindset and interest in potentially expanding tasks to other business development activities like licensing. You would be part of our Legal Business Development & Group Functions team. You are curious, have an outstanding ability to build and maintain relationships and are willing to learn and co-create with a team.

You will be based at the Roche headquarters in Basel as a member of our global team of attorneys who support Roche’s business development transactions (mergers & acquisitions, licensing, venture investments) and group functions (including corporate law, employment law, IT, finance and procurement). We support a broad range of business partners with a focus on making a difference for patients with cutting-edge technologies in research, development and commercialization of innovative medicines and diagnostics. 

The Opportunity:

• Leading M&A projects in a deal team together with the colleagues of our Corporate Business Development function and taking responsibility for the overall legal workstream from due diligence, negotiation to implementation of transactions

• Openness to work and grow on a broader range of topics in the area of business development, corporate and finance, including licensing, venture fund, financing and investment transactions 

• Legal expert who serves as a strategic advisor and partner to the business

• Foster strong relationships with our business partners, develop and recommend innovative solutions to complex legal and business issues, hands-on and pragmatic

• Provide legal training regarding various topics of relevance to and in support of business needs

• Collaboratively work together with people from many geographies and cultures

Who You Are:

• Attorney with bar admission/bar exam

• Excellent communication skills in English (oral and written)

• Expertise in working on M&A transactions and excellent drafting skills

• Experience in competition law and Swiss corporate law, experience in licensing transactions would be a distinguishing factor

• Ability to proactively and independently identify and manage legal issues and risks

• Prior work exposure to life science industry or other highly regulated industries is preferred but not required
