MEMIC is seeking a highly motivated and skilled Senior Legal & Risk Analyst to join our team. We are ideally looking for a candidate who would be hybrid in our Portland office however we are open to candidates in the New England area who would travel to the office on a regular basis.Β
The Senior Legal & Risk Analyst plays a crucial role within MEMIC, supporting the Corporate Risk Officer in managing legal and risk-related aspects of our operations. This position is responsible for a range of duties related to legal analysis, risk assessment, and data privacy compliance. The ideal candidate will be detail-oriented, analytical, and possess a strong understanding of insurance regulations, data privacy laws, and contract review.Β
Principal Duties and Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with external law firms, legal counsel, and regulatory bodies to ensure the company's legal interests are protected and compliance with relevant laws is maintained.
- Ensure MEMIC is fully compliant with data privacy laws and regulations.
- Review contracts to ensure that they comply with data privacy laws and regulations.
- Manage relationships with vendors and ensure that they are fully compliant with data privacy laws and regulations.
- Coordinate all related legal issues, such as data breach response plans, incident response, and other legal matters related to data privacy.
Minimum Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:Β
- Bachelorβs degree with a minimum of 3 years of relevant experience in law, finance, or compliance or an equivalent combination of work and education experience required. Prior insurance experience preferred.
- Juris Doctor Degree preferred.
- Certified Information Privacy Professional (CIPP) designation strongly preferred.
- Strong understanding of data privacy laws and regulations.
- Ability to review contracts and identify potential risks and issues.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Knowledge of vendor management and coordination.
