We are looking for a Senior Legal Writer who can create, edit, and enhance legal forms and supporting guides for FindLaw.com.

About the Role

In this opportunity as Senior Legal Writer, you will:

  • Research and draft legal forms for a consumer audience
  • Automate legal forms and guide users through form creation
  • Write effective informational content designed to help FindLaw.com users find answers to their legal questions
  • Create and edit accessible, smart, and useful content across multiple legal practice areas in collaboration with editorial and performance partners
  • Track content performance using multiple measures and use performance measures to constantly refine your writing style and improve content performance
  • Assist editor and legal writers in content production and editing tasks as needed, including form and content maintenance
  • Work with editor and legal writers to constantly refine and improve FindLaw best practices
  • In conjunction with your editor, help train, coach and support FindLaw.com writers on systems, processes, writing and analytics
  • Work with editors and colleagues to constantly refine and improve FindLaw content best practices

About You

You're a fit for the role of Senior Legal Writer if your background includes:

  • 5+ years professional legal writing experience preferred
  • Experience writing precisely and succinctly under tight deadlines
  • Experience writing and editing in a professional setting
  • Intermediate understanding of HTML and SEO
  • Experience in the practice of law or in a judicial clerkship a plus
  • Experience in legal marketing a plus
  • Advanced user of Microsoft Word (preferred)
  • Experienced user of Office365 suite
  • Experience with document automation systems (preferred)

Knowledge/Skills

  • Excellent writing skills, with ability write and edit compelling, accurate information for consumer audiences
  • Excellent legal research skills, with ability to create accurate legal forms
  • Detail-oriented and organized
  • Ability to manage complex projects
  • Ability to be flexible within a constantly evolving process and shifting priorities
  • Technology and Internet savvy with experience using complex systems
  • Comfort with editor and/or peer review of content and with constructive criticism

Education

  • Bachelor's degree required
  • J.D. required
