Senior Linux Engineer

Maven is a proprietary trader and market maker formed in 2011. We employ the most talented traders, developers and engineers in the market, executing a diverse range of strategies across global equities and derivatives. We are the most active participant in many of the products we trade, contributing significant liquidity to markets around the world.

Our Infrastructure team is a set of broad-minded technologists with diverse backgrounds, who focus on continuously improving the end-to-end resiliency, scalability, visibility and supportability of Maven's trading systems. 

Maven is undergoing a technological transition where we update our existing infrastructure and equip it for our next stage of growth. Call it modernisation, evolution; you would help to drive this changing environment. 

What are we looking for:

• Proven track record designing, building and supporting medium-sized Linux environments distributed around the globe with colleagues distributed geographically
• A drive for simplification, automation and self-service (ideally using python and ansible)
• Able to design and implement highly available solutions
• Comfortable discussing filesystems, networking, databases and kernel internals
• A desire to share and demonstrate work, techniques and tools to a broad audience
• Exposure to containerisation/virtualisation techniques (VMware is especially useful)
• Experience of running and supporting large distributed data storage platforms would be a bonus
• Pragmatism - experience communicating and coordinating change across physically and technically diverse teams
• Measures rather than guesses - experience of metric and log capture systems and the use of presentation system for them (e.g. kibana, grafana)
