In this role, you will play a vital part in the resolution of disability insurance claims that have escalated to litigation. This position requires collaboration with various stakeholders including legal teams, claimants, and medical professionals to ensure fair and effective resolutions while minimizing legal risks. You will leverage your medical knowledge and legal acumen to navigate complex information and engage in settlement negotiations. The role is pivotal to maintaining compliance with relevant laws, showcasing the importance of thorough and analytical claim management. Accountabilities

  • Handle a caseload of disability claims that have progressed to litigation, ensuring timely and accurate processing.
  • Review and interpret medical records, reports, and documentation for claim assessments.
  • Collaborate with Legal Counsel for settlement negotiations with claimants and attorneys.
  • Maintain organized records of all claim activities and correspondence.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies and legal requirements in claim handling.
  • Serve as the primary contact for Plan Sponsors and Internal Claims Staff during litigation.
  • Prepare reports on claim statuses, litigation outcomes, and relevant metrics.
  • Identify potential risks and develop mitigation strategies.
  • Stay updated on industry trends and best practices related to disability claims and litigation.
  • Provide complex claim support related to subrogation and other legal cases.
  • Requirements

  • 3-5 years of experience in disability insurance claims management.
  • Strong understanding of disability insurance policies and medical terminology.
  • Excellent analytical, negotiation, and communication skills.
  • Proficient in claims management software and relevant tools.
