Senior Machine Training Coordinator
Job Description
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- 1. Develop, coordinate, evaluate and monitor training for employees accepted into the Machine Experience Program, Machine Pre-Apprenticeship and Apprenticeship Program while guiding and mentoring the trainee during the initial training process.
- 2. Directly responsible for the development of machinists (new hire or intercompany transfer) identified as entry level, intermediate or experienced.
- 3. Develop machine training programs by identifying learning goals, skill level attainment and department requirements. Draft curriculum in conjunction with Machine Department management and trainers.
- 4. Regularly meet with and interact daily with Machine Department management, supervisors, and trainers to continuously improve upon the development and upgrades of the specific Machine Department program.
- 5. Create cross-training plans to close the skill set gaps in the department.
- 6. Work closely with designated machine trainers and supervisors to monitor, guide, and correct the OJT program requirements and adjust training (as may be necessary based on progress) for individuals in the program.
- 7. Interact with the Training Department (from time to time) to assist in the creating of course needs, computer-based learning, audio/visual requirements or learning management system (LMS) requirements.
- 8. In partnership with the Training Department (learning and development) monitor employee training requirements, update training files (progress, accomplishments and due dates) while assisting with in-house customized training program development and including state machinist apprenticeships.
- 9. Assist and execute in the initial training for new hires in the Machine Department, on the shop floor and in a classroom environment.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- A bachelor's degree in education or similar field in learning and development, human resources, or organizational management.
- A minimum of five-years’ of work-related experience in manufacturing environment.
- A minimum of three years of training experience in a manufacturing setting and demonstrated previous experience in the set-up, operation and directing of manufacturing-based learning and development programs.
- Knowledge of the various disciplines in the field of manual and CNC machining.
OTHER QUALIFICATIONS:
- Demonstrated excellent communication skills and the ability to work well with entry level machine students.
- Previous experience as a mentor, coach, instructor, or trainer in a manufacturing environment.
- Familiar with shop math principles and basic trigonometry.
- Read, write, speak, understand English, and be able to communicate with other employees.
- Demonstrated familiarity with software programs, such as Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and learning management systems (LMS) used in the training field.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
- Must be able to pass a vision test and a fitness-for-duty test.
- Follow general shop safety procedures including the occasional use of safety glasses, safety toe shoes, and hearing protection.
- Work standing and/or sit for extended hours.
- Occasionally use powered and hand-held tools.Â
