Job Description
Torch Technologies is currently seeking a candidate to fill the position of Business Unit Deputy for Torch's Strategic Systems Business Unit (SSBU). The Strategic Systems business unit provides top-level comprehensive leadership for over 200 employee-owners focused early C4ISR algorithm evaluation, preliminary flight test analysis of end-to-end Ballistic Missile Defense System (BMDS) through hardware in the loop (HWIL) simulation, and flight test support and flight test data evaluation of MDS element and system of system (SoS) performance. Minimal travel requirements.
Roles and Responsibilities
- Assist the BU lead in providing leadership to employees that demonstrate commitment to corporate initiatives and to the culture of an employee-owned company.
- Growth and development of the Business Unit is a primary responsibility. The applicant will participate in the company annual strategic planning process which includes development of the SSBU Business Plan and a multi-year financial/budget plan.
- Assist the BU lead in financial responsibilities by setting and achieving growth goals, managing overhead expenses, and ensuring programs are executed on-budget and on-schedule. Strategically position the company to re-win contracts and collaborate with other Business Units and organizations across the company to achieve new contract wins for both their organizations and in the SSBU.
- Provide inspirational leadership by developing and carrying out a strategic vision for the Business Unit which is in alignment with corporate goals, communicating those plans and goals to employees, and coaching employees to achieve success. As a senior leader within the company, practice leadership by example by consistently demonstrating the company's core values of: Innovation; Cooperation; Expertise; Customer Focus; Excellence; Integrity; and Reliability.
- Devise and implement a workforce development program which identifies and matures high-potential internal candidates for future technical and management leadership positions within the company. Develop and maintain a succession plan for the organization.
- Administer reviews of personnel during merit cycles, bonus pools, and performance reviews.
- Work with Division and Directorate Managers to ensure customer support and deliverables are on track.
- Develop and maintain customer relationships and ensure performance exceeds expectations.
Job Requirements
Education: A Bachelor's Degree in a business or technical discipline is required; an advanced degree is preferred.
Training: Advanced leadership/management related training desired.
Skills:
- Candidate will have demonstrated the ability to lead a large (75 - 250 people) Organization.
- Candidate should have significant experience with DoD Acquisition programs and processes.
- Candidate must have some experience and understanding of air and missile defense systems.
- Candidate should have demonstrated skills related to program management, customer support, employee management, organizational design and strategic planning, opportunity development, and financial/budget management.
Requires a minimum of 20 years of experience.
Clearance: Active Secret clearance required; Top Secret desired.
