As a Snap Engineering team member, you’ll help us build the future of communication.

We are looking for a Senior Manager, AI Training Platform to join Snap Inc!

Our Training Platform team owns the Machine Learning Infrastructure used by all of the applied ML teams at Snap, including Ads, Discover, Search, Notifications, Friending and Camera Platform to train their models. The team is responsible for developing the infrastructure components to empower Snap's ML engineers and data scientists to use the state-of-the-art techniques in Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning and facilitating the sharing of these techniques between the teams. Training Platform components include:

  • Model training using specialized hardware (TPU, GPU etc) where applicable

  • Hyperparameter tuning and AutoML

  • Common repository for sharing ML model components across Snap

  • Experiment management

  • Notebook services

  • Online/offline monitoring and debugging of ML applications

What you'll do:

  • Develop the vision and the roadmap for the ML infrastructure used by most applied ML engineers at Snap

  • Work with applied ML teams across Snap to understand their requirements for ML infrastructure and build generalized solutions

  • Influence key decisions on architecture and implementation of scalable, reliable, and cost-effective engineering

  • Iterate quickly without compromising quality and raise the bar on operational excellence

  • Build and grow a team of exceptional machine learning infra engineers, software engineers and technical leaders

  • Hire and develop top performing engineering talent and maintaining our commitment to diversity and inclusion

  • Mentor a team of engineering managers and senior independent contributors

  • Evangelize Machine Learning at Snap

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Strong understanding of ML model training, evaluation, benchmarking and publishing

  • Background working with both internal and external partners

  • Background in solving open ambiguous problems

  • Possesses a desire to learn and help others

  • Ability to collaborate and work well with others

Minimum Qualifications:

  • BS/BA degree in technical field such as computer science, mathematics, statistics or equivalent years of experience

  • 9+ years of experience with applied machine learning, big data or infrastructure engineering

  • 6+ years of experience managing a team

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience/familiarity with one of the mature ML platforms in the industry such as FBLearner, TFX, Michelangelo, Cortex etc.

  • Experience/familiarity with big data, cloud technology, Internet-scale infrastructure and distributed systems

  • Experience with data science, feed ranking, search or advertising

  • Demonstrated experience leading a large team at scale and managing engineering with an eye to driving efficiency

  • Previous experience partnering with cross-functional executives and management across a globally distributed organization and exercising sound judgment

  • Track record of delivery in rapidly changing, highly collaborative, multi-site, multi-stakeholder environments

  • Deep knowledge of and experience working with a diverse group of engineers

  • Someone who loves to learn, and is passionate about developing top engineering talent and leaders

For CA based applicants: 

  • The base salary range for this position is $250,000 - 365,000 annually

  • This position is eligible for a discretionary performance-based bonus

  • This position is eligible for equity in the form of RSUs
