Description
POSITION OVERVIEW:
The Senior Manager of Automation and Continuous Improvement will be at the forefront of revolutionizing operational efficiency through the implementation of cutting-edge automation technologies. This role will involve both strategic planning and hands-on technical leadership of the automation team in repair, operation, maintenance, and programming of multiple building automation systems to drive innovation and deliver tangible results.
This role will also lead Continuous Improvement (CI) activities of a diverse scope and complexity to improve the efficiency of systems and processes in the business, with suppliers, or with customers. The Senior Manager of Automation and Continuous Improvement educates customers, suppliers, and teammates about CI and Automation philosophies and methods.
JOB DUTIES:
- Provide visionary leadership to the Automation and Continuous Improvement teams, fostering a culture of collaboration and innovation
- Develop a comprehensive automation strategy and roadmap aligned with the organization's goals and objectives
- Stay abreast of emerging technologies and trends in automation engineering, evaluating their potential impact and relevance to the organization
- Oversee the planning, execution, and delivery of automation projects from conception to completion, ensuring adherence to timelines, budgets, and quality standards
- Provide technical leadership and guidance in the design, development, and implementation of automation solutions using state-of-the-art tools, technologies, and methodologies
- Drive a culture of continuous improvement by encouraging feedback, conducting post-implementation reviews, and iterating on solutions to maximize their impact
- Collaborates with department heads and senior leadership to utilize equipment to improve employee safety, production quality, equipment downtime, and overall equipment effectiveness utilizing Continuous Improvement techniques
- Participates in key metric creation and tracking for internal and external customers
- Train and communicate effectively with customers, suppliers, teammates, project teams, and management
- Contribute to the development of relevant working procedures, templates, and standards
- Conduct regular technical reviews and provide feedback to ensure the quality and scalability of automation solutions
- Recruit, mentor, and develop a high-performing teams, empowering them to achieve their full potential and deliver exceptional results
- Continually evolve the working practices within the company to improve productivity through software and asset upgrades
- Develop inventory lists for numerous machines in multiple locations
- All other duties as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS and education requirements:
- Bachelor degree in Industrial Engineering or related discipline or relevant experience required
- 8+ years of experience in automation systems required
- 5+ years of direct supervisory experience required
- 3-5+ years of operations experience in a manufacturing environment is required
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and other computer-based applications
- Ability to adapt to changing organizational and operational need and lead others through change
- Knowledge of automation systems, software, and hardware
- Experience of implementing automation solutions through team effort or project management
- Excellent communication skills, both written and oral
- Ability to troubleshoot mechanical, program, and electrical issues
- Knowledge of installation techniques of automation systems and applications
- Skill in reading and understanding schematics and software languages
- Ability to lead diverse teams and establish a daily schedule to complete all automation needs throughout multiple areas
- Strong team player and leader with the ability to work across multiple functions and disciplines
- Ability to communicate with companies at all levels and capable of managing both party expectations
PHYSICAL Environment & Requirements:
- Climate controlled office or home office environment
- Continuously requires vision, hearing, twisting, and talking
- Frequently requires sitting, standing, fine dexterity, and handling
- Occasionally requires walking, climbing stairs, lifting (up to 20lbs), carrying, reaching, kneeling, pushing/pulling, bending, and crouching
- Rarely requires climbing
