About the role:

The Senior Manager, Business Affairs will advise on BA-related matters across Whalar’s global team in the US and EMEA with a concentration in the review of client business agreements (e.g., Scope of Work, NDAs). This role will work in collaboration with the Senior Director of Business Affairs based in the U.S.  The person in this position has experience with negotiating and reviewing agreements in the fields of social media, marketing/advertising, entertainment, or talent, and thrives in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.

Here’s what you’ll do day-to-day:
  • Advising, planning, and coordinating all aspects of client agreement review and approval, and escalating as needed. 
  • Work closely with global teams in gathering information, negotiating, and managing a smooth contract workflow.
  • Manage various agreements and workflows with little to no oversight; with some support from the BA Assistant.
  • Identify and mitigate risks; escalate to Senior Director, Business Affairs, as needed. 
  • Track contractual obligations to ensure client and business needs are in compliance.
  • Vet and negotiate various client agreements for domestic and global use with little to no oversight.
  • Maintain files, contract workflow systems, and tracking spreadsheets regularly.
  • Familiarity and remain up to date on FTC and ASA guidelines, or other regulatory body guidelines.
  • Knowledge of basic principles of English contract law (European contract law a plus)
  • Consult and provide training on Whalar BA best practices.
  • Support Senior Director, Business Affairs to maintain and improve workflow processes and guidelines.

Here’s what we’re looking for:

  • Moderate level drafting experience with the ability to negotiate and discuss complex contract principles
  • Readily assumes responsibility for tasks
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Confident when presenting to clients and team members
  • Knowledge of FTC/ASA, HFSS, GDPR, and other federal guidelines/best practices
  • Can lead and mentor others on all matters related to Business Affairs
  • Can manage multiple projects and works well under pressure
  • Self-motivated, highly organized individual who learns and adapts quickly
  • High degree of professionalism with a strong focus on attention to detail.
  • Faces challenges from a position of ‘Yes’ with a problem-solving mentality
  • Understanding of influencer marketing and the social media landscape
  • 5-7+ years of relevant work experience
  • Passionate about contract management and social media
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Suite, Google Workspace, Asana (a plus)
