What you'll be doing

CIBC Treasury actively manages balance sheet resources (capital, funding and investments), as well as balance sheet risks (interest rate, liquidity and foreign exchange) in support of our bank’s strategy. We are an independent advisor to our operating businesses in the analytical pricing of products and strategies. Treasury also manages regulatory, central bank, government, industry and investor relations related to capital and funding instruments, balance sheet regulation, and treasury related financial system risks.


As a Senior Manager, you will support our bank’s capital planning and management in support of our strategic business plans. You will work with cross-functional teams on various treasury and bank-wide initiatives, identify capital generation and deployment trends, conduct peer/market analysis to help senior management make informed decisions on one of our key resources in the bank.

How You’ll Succeed

  • Support for capital planning mandates – maintain the CIBC capital planning model. Prepare capital analysis for senior management/committees and the Board.
  • Support balance sheet resource management – work with broader Finance teams and Risk team to track performance against resource utilization. Anticipate needs of businesses in the evolving environment to be able to provide top-down guidance on capital resource availability.
  • Perform peer benchmarking and industry capital trends analysis – stay well informed of current industry capital trends and regulatory developments to appropriately inform senior management.
  • Provide analytic support pertaining to the execution of capital management activities such as common share buybacks and issuance/redemption of various capital instruments.
  • Support key regulatory stress testing – work with Risk, Finance, and other Treasury teams in supporting Enterprise-Wide Stress Testing, OSFI/Bank of Canada Macroeconomic Stress Testing and Recovery and Resolution Planning.

Who You Are

  • You can demonstrate strong analytical and problem solving skills. You have the ability to proactively and creatively solve problems to move initiatives forward backed by strong analytical thinking and experience. You are comfortable working with financial information, along with primary tools with a high proficiency in Excel and PowerPoint (a working knowledge of PowerQuery/PowerBI would be an asset). You make connections between data and business strategies/trends and able to synthesize information in an intuitive way.
  • Great presentation/interactive skills sufficient to convey conceptual information/ideas on issues requiring interpretation, objectivity and/or opinion. You're confident in your ability to communicate detailed information in an impactful way.

  • You have a degree in Business, Finance or a related discipline. If you have (or are working towards) a certification (CFA) or graduate degree (MBA), it will be considered an asset
