Global Merchant & Network Services (GMNS) brings together American Express' Merchant-and Network-related businesses including Global Merchant Services, Global Network Services, and Strategic Partnerships. Global Merchant Services is responsible for managing the relationships with the millions of Merchants, Global, National and Regional, that accept American Express, as well as through our third party acquirers and aggregator partners.
Our goal is to be an indispensable payments partner to our Merchants: simultaneously delivering differentiated products and services and driving revenue growth for both Merchants and American Express.
How will you make an impact in this role?
The role of the Senior Manager, Client Management offers the opportunity to leverage strong relationship management, consultative selling, strategic thinking, and collaboration skills to drive incremental American Express spend, while working in an ever-changing environment. This is a unique opportunity to oversee portfolios of key Merchants from across various industries and verticals.
This position may require you from time to time to come to the American Express office, attend an offsite meeting or visit a client site.
Specific Responsibilities Include:
Strategy Development:
- Uncover opportunities to drive spend on American Express products through creation of profitable deal constructs and innovative partnership opportunities at Global, National and Regional levels.
- Develop and execute strategic account plans to grow American Express share and relevance; drive partner engagement and satisfaction; all while increasing profitability.
Business Development:
- Identify and build a pipeline of charge volume growth opportunities to increase profitability/ contribution margin of Merchant relationships.
- Dependent on the on the specific account portfolio, lead contract signings, renegotiations and/or renewals, that deliver profitable and beneficial outcomes for American Express.
- Consistently track and evaluate business results.
Relationship Management:
- Cultivate and leverage relationships across multi-level (C-Level, Finance, Treasury, Sales and Marketing) and if applicable to the specific portfolio, multi geographies/regions, to identify and implement solutions to grow and expand share.
- Establish and leverage strong internal relationships and networks across American Express to effectively influence and execute against growth plans.
- Increase Merchant Satisfaction and engagement through deep strategic partnerships.
- Manage and grow a portfolio of around 75 - 80 accounts
Minimum Qualifications
- Proven ability to develop strong client/customer relationships and lead discussions with senior level stakeholders to influence decision-making and drive results.
- Proven success in selling-in B2C and B2B programs and initiatives and uncovering new opportunities to grow revenue and share.
- Ability to influence others and work collaboratively across teams to ensure seamless integration with key partners, including: Finance, Pricing, Risk, Marketing, Operations and Legal.
- Proven consultative selling skills with a demonstrated ability to negotiate and close deals and drive results on a timely basis.
- Strong analytical skills with a focus on analyzing Merchant metrics to determine portfolio strategy / approach.
- Highly customer-focused and results-driven, with the ability to work on multiple initiatives simultaneously, both autonomously and as part of a team.
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience required.
- Applicants must reside in greater Los Angeles area or be willing to relocate.
Salary Range: $80,000.00 to $155,000.00 annually + bonus + benefits
