Job Description

While candidates in the listed location(s) are encouraged for this role, candidates in other locations will be considered.

Databricks is looking for an experienced strategist to align to our Cloud Specialists and Cloud Partner BD teams. The Cloud Specialist and Business Development (BD) teams work with and enable Databricks Sales, SAs, and partners to deliver focused and creative solutions aligned to business outcomes for our customers at scale. They also partner with global AWS, Microsoft Azure, and Google Cloud field teams (Sales/SA/PS/Partner) to ensure they understand where Databricks fits in, how Databricks solutions can solve their customer's technical and business challenges, and that Databricks is top of mind.

Reporting to the Senior Director of Partner Strategy & Operations, you will be a highly visible and independent thought leader, mentor, and operator playing a key role in scaling the Partner Strategy & Operations team. In this role, you will combine analytical insight, strong business acumen, and robust cross-functional partnerships with leaders across the company while partnering with our senior Cloud leaders to set a strategy and medium/long term goals for the business. You will then lead the execution of many of these initiatives, supporting them with proactive data-driven insights and analysis along the way.

The successful candidate will have a relentless curiosity and possess a passion for creating innovative, data-driven approaches to identify opportunities for improvement. Moreover, they will excel at developing recommendations that transcend the numbers and improve business performance. Ideally, this person will have several years of experience in a partner strategy, sales strategy, or top tier consulting role, familiarity with a consumption-based cloud business model and feel comfortable interacting with senior leaders on a regular basis.

The impact you will have:

  • Be the expert on all aspects of our multi-cloud GTM strategy across Azure, Amazon, and Google Cloud, becoming the trusted advisor to the Databricks cloud team leadership. Identify and develop Databricks’ Cloud partner OKRs.
  • Drive alignment with global Cloud Specialist teams through regular pipeline and forecast calls, QBRs, and leadership meetings, owning the structure and analysis for each
  • Lead annual strategy, territory, and quota planning for the global Cloud Specialist teams
  • Innovate Cloud Specialist and BD business planning, reporting, dashboarding, scorecarding, and forecasting processes
  • Work cross-functionally and globally with internal stakeholders to resolve issues, understand business and data challenges, identify optimization opportunities and respond to escalation and exception requests
  • Monitor business performance, identify areas for improvement and spearhead major projects & programs to drive operational excellence in close alignment with the Cloud, ISV, and SI partner leadership teams
  • Become the expert on Databricks cloud partnership agreements and mechanics. Know how our business operates with Azure, AWS, and Google Cloud and teach others

What we look for:

  • You love building processes at scale and are familiar with automation. You enjoy designing processes that serve the needs of the organization and its participants, while remaining flexible and agile
  • You are technical and fluent in Salesforce reporting and proficient with Tableau. Whether it's building a quick Salesforce report for the business or analyzing data sets with tools like Tableau or SQL queries, data is a core part of your toolkit
  • You excel in a collaborative environment and have a high degree of honesty, integrity and sound judgment. You translate team member needs into clear tasks and deliverables for contributors. You work through dependencies, bottlenecks, and tradeoffs with ease
  • You have a “get it done” attitude and want to build something that lasts. Not only do you have the ability and the desire to architect the high level strategy, you want to operationalize it and can dive deep into the details
  • You have excellent spoken and written communication skills. You have experience resolving prioritization conflicts, resourcing shortfalls, and timing issues
  • You have 8+ years experience in an operational or strategy role at a top-tier technology company or management consultancy. You have designed systems and workflows spanning multiple team members and tools to manage projects spanning at least a full year
  • BA/BS degree, MBA or Masters degree preferred
