The Senior Manager Cocoa Sourcing Technology plays a vital role within the Cocoa Systems & Technology (S&T) organization with primary responsibilities for Cocoa Supply Chain Resiliency. This role drives and shapes global cocoa strategy while ensuring appropriate cocoa functional and effective competencies are developed across the Cocoa Sourcing Technology team. This role also serves as the key strategic partner for the Cocoa R&D leads across Cocoa S&T and Cocoa Sourcing teams, and actively contributes to the broader Mars Cocoa Enterprise Strategy.

This position will lead a team of scientists - motivating, inspiring, engaging and developing to deliver results against the Global Cocoa Strategy. This role manages the function that leads activities in process development, efficiency improvements and quality initiatives as they relate to cocoa post-harvest processes across Asia, Latin America and West Africa and the utilization of cocoa raw materials within the Mars Wrigley supply network.

As a R&D Senior Lead at Mars, you will lead the R&D matrix team for brand and R&D representative at the Business team. Also you will share responsibility for brand business strategy development and business model and business results, portfolio re-definition from R&D perspective, and is fully accountable for product and packaging development and implementation and for all elements of the product life cycle.

This role is accountable to sustain and advance cocoa functional knowledge within the team and the broader organization, for assuring the application of robust scientific methods and statistical analysis for the research across the Cocoa Sourcing Technology teams in both Asia and the Americas and leading the adoption and adherence to the Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) as well as digitization across the Cocoa Sourcing Technology programs

What are we looking for?

• Bachelor's Degree or equivalent in Science (Food Science or related subject area). Advanced degree preferred with applied technical expertise in areas like product development and implementation.
• Minimum of 5 years of People Management or combination of R&D Leadership experience with development of direct reports, leading teams, and engaging team
• Minimum of 7 years of experience in cocoa and/or raw material supply chains, strategic ingredients technology, and/or product development with an applied, pragmatic approach to implementation.
• Demonstrated knowledge in food science, material science, sensory science and raw materials development across multiple process and product applications.

What will be your key responsibilities?

• Leader of a team of 5-7 globally based cocoa scientists. Responsible for motivating, inspiring, engaging and developing the team.
• Responsible for ensuring the Cocoa Sourcing Technology team retains critical mass, capabilities, and expertise in cocoa raw materials processing and utilization, cocoa post - harvest, quality management systems and cocoa Q&FS.
• Define and prioritize projects that will deliver the Mars' Cocoa Sourcing strategy, identifying and securing appropriate resources from ideation through deployment at commercial scale.
• Key strategic partner for the Global Cocoa S&T, Cocoa Sourcing and Sustainability leaders.
• Connect with global peers and work cross functionally (S&T and broader R&D, commercial, sustainability, Supply & Engineering) to ensure execution of the cocoa sourcing technology initiatives.
• Drive Program Lifecycle Management across all project portfolio.
• Scout new technologies and identify future risks and opportunities as they relate to cocoa growing, processing, and utilization.
• Support digitization within the Cocoa Sourcing Technology team.
• Proactively explore possibilities for value creation, competitive advantage and capture and protect Intellectual Capital through discovery and/or development as IP or Trade Secret.
• Create, refresh, and facilitate cocoa content for Global Chocolate School and educational modules.
• Drive engagement and a safety and quality culture within the site S&T teams.
