Senior Manager, Commercial Aviation Finance, FP&A
Job Description
As the leader of the Commercial Aviation (CA) FP&A team, you will play a vital role in ensuring the financial success of the CA organization. As a key member of the CA leadership team, you will serve as a strategic thought partner to the CA president and the broader leadership team. Lead all financial planning aspects of the business, including forecast, budgets, and long-range plans. Consolidate financial information and report results/findings to the CA organization. This is a high-profile position with interactions and dependencies both internal and external at all levels of the organization.
Are you up to the challenge?
- Own all aspects of the FP&A function for the CA business; includes but not limited to financial reporting, near-term and long-term planning, and business case analysis
- Manage, train, and coach the FP&A team with an emphasis on professional development. Organizing, assigning, delegating and coordinating the work of the team to ensure department objectives are met timely and accurately. Conduct regular performance management assessments to ensure employees develop and stretch their talents to maximize benefits to each individual and the company at large
- Analyze variances to past and expected performance and identifies/explains overarching trends in the business to drive management decisions. Provides key analytical support to executive leadership
- Support the analysis for business case evaluation for commercial deals with current and prospective airline/strategic partners to enable profitable revenue growth
- Leverage data and financial modeling skills to analyze a wide variety of business problems/cases. Turn findings into actionable results
- Leads effort to streamline and automate monthly processes; leverage new tool(s) as appropriate
- Addresses ad hoc requests for data and analysis requirements
- Support external reporting of quarterly financial results to investors and Board of Directors
You should definitely have:
- Bachelor's Degree in Finance, Accounting, or related field
- At twelve (12) years of relevant experience, including a background in planning and/or financial modeling
- Experience building and leading high performing teams
- Proficiency with the MS Office Suite of Tools, including demonstrated advanced MS Excel skills (modeling, pivot tables, formulas, formatting, graphs.)
- Excellent analytical skills; ability to analyze operational data and validate accuracy of modeling outputs
- Excellent written and oral communication skills required, including the ability to convey financial meaning and implications of reported data in succinct terms
- Excellent organizational skills required, including the ability to manage priorities and complete multiple projects simultaneously
- Must be able to work cross-functionally to analyze reporting requirements and develop an efficient process to meet them
- Must be able to work autonomously, i.e. recognize what needs to be done and do it with limited guidance from management
- This role is subject to ITAR/EAR; candidates must be a US Person (this includes US Citizen, Permanent Resident or Protected Individual such as an asylee or refugee)
It would be nice if you had:
- Experience in the Satellite and/or Commercial Aviation industry
- Experience using financial management systems, preferably Hyperion
- Familiarity with GAAP accounting principles
