Collins Aerospace is looking for a Senior Manager within the office of Airworthiness and Configuration Management. You will be the configuration management (CM) subject matter expert (SME) and responsible for governance of the configuration management systems with all of the value streams. The CM SME will ensure that the configuration standards and best practices across the organization are met, while taking into account the variations of the individual customer needs.
This position will work in a remote capacity near one of the following sites: Chula Vista CA, Riverside CA, or Foley AL. Relocation available for the ideal candidate.

Primary Responsibilities:
- Lead a cross functional organization on a journey to standardize an effective configuration management system across all programs and product types, primarily commercial and military aerospace structures
- Ensure changes are managed from creation through to implementation, including conduct of effective Configuration Control Board meetings.
- Work with the compliance team to improve and maintain to the industry standards in the field of Configuration Management to align with the appropriate standards that Collins customer base expects.
- Develop program specific standards, for Configuration Management Plans (CMPs) in accordance with the Collins Enterprise Excellence Procedures (EEPs).
- Provide governance, consult and assistance to other cross functional team members chartered with controlling the configuration management and reporting - engineering, change board, value stream configuration coordinators
- Approve new and evolving customer configuration plans throughout the life of the programs.
- Maintain and deploy changes to the applicable requirements flowed from industry, customer and regulatory bodies into the quality manual configuration management policies and standard work.
- Ensure CM activities for VS are properly supported with the tools needed
- Develop and maintain the standard work documentation and forms needed to support the overall QMS system in configuration management.
- Assist in internal, customer and industry audits.
- Develop and conduct Configuration Management training to the technical organization
- Prepare metric and status reports associated with departmental capacity/productivity
- Participate in strategic planning sessions, staffing, goals setting, performance development, training, employee recognition, and career development
- Perform other duties as required by the immediate manager
Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree and 10 years of prior relevant experience OR
- Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 7 years of experience OR
- In absence of a degree, 14 years of relevant experience is required.
- Must be a U.S. person/Permanent Resident "Green Card" holder.
- Strong skills in interpersonal communications, relationship building, and in collaborating on cross-functional teams comprised of diverse personalities, skill sets, and levels of experience
- Experience with configuration management standards such as EIA-649 Configuration Management Standard.
- Experience with generating product configuration metrics and reports
- High level of competency using Microsoft O365 Suite including Word, PowerPoint, Project and Excel.
- Competency collaborating using TEAMs and SharePoint and Zoom in a virtual or hybrid work environment.
- Knowledge of industry standards for quality systems and robust product development for aerospace such as AS9100 and APQP
Preferred Qualifications:
- Self-Starter for reaching best in class process for configuration and change management
- Proven ability to coordinate & manage project issues, risks and changes
- Understanding of the full engineering process including proposal development, new product introduction, in-production and in-service engineering, and aftermarket engineering.
- Experience with systems based on the Capability Maturity Model Integration (Process Maturity model)
- Knowledge of systems, hardware, data management for aerospace structures and equipment
- Configuration management and propulsion systems or structures desired.
- Competent in applying CORE operating system to continuously strive for the alignment of goals, performance and capabilities demanded by Collins customers
- Working knowledge of SAP & Teamcenter
