The Strategy & Business Operations team partners with product and business leaders to drive Carta’s strategy, collaboration across teams, innovation, and best-in-class execution. This role will be closely involved in helping us deliver on the next $100bn of opportunities. Specifically, you will focus on the Corporate Development function within the Strategy and Business Operations team, which focuses specifically on how to advance Carta’s strategic vision through acquisitions, investments, and strategic partnerships.
We are scaling our team to help enable and accelerate our growth and are looking for a highly analytical and driven Senior Manager, Corporate Development Integration, to join the team.
As a Senior Manager, you will drive and lead cross functional teams responsible for successful integration of acquired companies. You will partner with Carta’s cross functional leaders during the early stages of an acquisition to create comprehensive integration plans tightly aligned with the strategic rationale and set KPI’s for post acquisition success. You will work with the deal lead, sponsor, and target company management to support due diligence, define integration strategy, integration planning and execution, and ensure strong alignment within and across organizations. Post acquisition you will own integration plan execution, ensuring that the integration achieves key business objectives. You will work closely with leads across People, Product, Engineering, IT, Legal, Finance and Operations. The ideal candidate is hands-on, has strong founder and team empathy, is process-oriented, and able to think strategically about product and team synergies.
The Problems You’ll Solve- Working with product and business leaders within Carta to influence strategy for our different businesses and products
- Develop integration strategy and deliver robust integration plans for acquisitions
- Own integration plan execution, and ensure strong alignment with acquired founders and teams about go-forward planning
- Coordinate with internal stakeholders on all aspects of the integration - people, back office, operations, product, business integration. Run integration meetings and project lead all workstreams
- Work with cross-functional groups within Carta (including Legal, People, Finance / Accounting, Product, Engineering teams) to plan, prioritize, and execute projects on time and within budget
- Interact with senior leadership in developing integration plans and identifying issues/concerns to ensure alignment of objectives
- Create materials and develop communications to provide regular updates to the leadership team on progress, key decisions, and major risks / issues that need to be resolved
- Continuously improve integration capabilities by identifying and developing process improvements, playbooks and tools to increase the efficiency and effectiveness of the team and improve the quality of integration efforts.
- Re-imagine how Carta can create more owners in the world, by making private securities liquid and enabling them to be traded with similar ease as public securities
The Strategy & Business Operations team leads planning and delivery of key initiatives at Carta. This role will specifically be responsible for taking the lead on integrating Carta’s high priority acquisitions and ensuring the teams, products, and businesses that we acquire are successful. This role will have high executive visibility both internally and externally and will be instrumental in ensuring the continued growth and success of Carta’s acquired businesses.
About You- Have a learning mindset; Carta sits at the intersection of software, private markets, public markets and other capital markets players - we learn new things every day
- 5 - 8 years of experience in M&A integration, management consulting, corporate development, investment banking, private equity, venture capital, corporate strategy, or business operations
- Transaction experience with the ability to manage multiple processes at once
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to effectively design and set priorities, goals, and feedback loops with internal teamsÂ
- Deep understanding of financial services; experience in enterprise software, SaaS, and/or fintech a plus
- Motivated to work collaboratively in a fast-paced, ever-changing environment to accelerate Carta’s growth
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to distill complex thoughts and strategies into simple, actionable recommendations, especially to executives
