Senior Manager Cost Accounting
Job Description
The Senior Manager Cost Accounting manages and oversees all aspects of global inventory cost accounting including source systems. Ensures related accounting is timely, accurate and follows US Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) plus related company policies. Provides guidance to the business across all locations and collaborates to provide information that impacts decisions and forecasting. Oversees month-end inventory subledger closing procedure. Works directly with auditors. Manages team of (4) accounting professionals.
Responsibilities:
- Owner of TGCS Inventory Accounting
- Manager of quarterly standard cost treatment as well as overhead cost pools for (3) manufacturing locations.
- Develop, maintain and improve inventory records in accordance with US GAAP and JSOX internal control requirements with oversight to monthly balance sheet reconciliation preparation.
- Oversees Oracle inventory subledger closing procedure each month, including non-US locations.
- Plan and execute annual physical inventory counts for each location globally, entailing those with direct participation plus those coordinated with partners in remote locations.
- Owner of TGCS COGS accounting for hardware and maintenance
- Ensure HW and maintenance COGS are correctly and timely recognized each month with revenue and sales operations team collaboration to ensure alignment, while reviewing significant GP% anomalies.
- Oversee the quarter end assessment and updates to warranty and inventory reserves, with executive presentation of changes and analysis of drivers.
- Provide relevant updates and inputs to monthly forecast update involving reserves, COGS recognition and outbound shipping.
- Contribute necessary inputs to annual budgeting (MTBP) exercise.
- Provide analysis, guidance and ensure timely communication to leadership team and other stakeholders involving inventory management and related issues.
- Provide senior management with effective understanding and analysis of inventory and COGS actual results and related variances.
- Partner with operations team and outsourced manufacturer (Jabil) to understand supply chain and logistics cost drivers.
- Manages quarterly external audit deliverables and provides support, as needed, to individual country statutory audits.
- Oversee inventory and COGS accounting for all locations globally.
- Ensure correct accounting for all geographies within the TGCS consolidation structure; supervising staff performing activities or providing guidance to teams executing tasks.
- As SME, coordinate discussions as needed to resolve discrepancies and accounting issues for all locations.
- Provide support to all country statutory financial statement preparation and audits.
- Manage global hardware transfer price mark-up changes and MVA rate updates impacting all country COGS.
- Periodically review applicable TGCS inventory and COGS accounting policies for appropriate updates.
- Directly manages a staff of (4) professional cost accountants.
- Organize prioritizes, set goals and manage performance reviews.
- Approver of manual journal entries.
- Reviewer of inventory balance sheet account reconciliations prepared by team.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
- Complete quarterly TTEC schedules.
- Support IT enhancements and standardization of inventory organizations and related processes.
Required Skills:
- Bachelor's degree with 12+ years cost accounting experience and strong understanding of US GAAP.
- Extensive experience managing company inventory and cost accounting across multiple segments, including oversight to cost pools and reconciliation of component subledgers.
- Experience overseeing periodic updates to warranty and inventory reserve accounting.
- Previous oversight to inventory-concerned month-end closing procedures.
- Experience working in a multi-currency, multi-country environment.
- Oracle experience is highly preferred.
- Blackline experience a strong plus.
- Background managing financial statement fluctuation analysis as well as reconciling balance sheet accounts.
- Experience working in a fast-paced technology environment a plus.
- The ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities simultaneously including those of the team.
- Able to conduct business during non-standard hours to meet the needs of a global business.
- Willing to work as a partner to the business and proactively identify solutions to inventory and cost accounting issues.
- Strong Excel and PowerPoint skills.
- People management experience is required.
- Undergraduate degree in accounting.
