As the Senior Manager of PayPal's Cybersecurity Incident Response Team (CIRT) within the Cybersecurity Defense Center (CDC), your primary role is to effectively lead a team of dedicated analysts in responding to cybersecurity threats. Your focus is on operational excellence, ensuring that the team's responses are of high quality, consistent, and increasingly automated. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams who focus on proactive security measures, providing them with key insights based on your team's findings. Your leadership will be essential in maintaining and elevating our incident response capabilities, contributing to the overall security of our digital assets and customers' data.

  • Lead and mentor the CDC CIRT analysts to improve our incident response processes, with an emphasis on quality, consistency, and automation.
  • Provide strategic guidance to cross-functional teams who focus on proactive security, ensuring seamless integration of incident data and insights.
  • Collaborate closely with teams across PayPal to maximize operational efficiency in security response processes.
  • Drive continuous improvement by identifying opportunities for process optimization and automation.
  • Assume ownership of key cybersecurity applications/tools focused on incident response, setting the vision and guiding the team towards operational excellence.
  • Demonstrate exceptional crisis management skills by calmly steering the team through high-pressure situations, ensuring efficient and effective incident resolution without compromising on quality or security.
  • Oversee incident response readiness exercises, conducting simulations and tabletop exercises to fine-tune PayPal's ability to react swiftly and effectively to security incidents.

Your day-to-day:

  • Monitor security alerts and events from various sources and direct the team in responding promptly to security incidents, following the established incident management plan.
  • Collaborate with security teams to conduct in-depth analysis of security events and incidents, utilizing advanced threat intelligence and security tools.
  • Maintain accurate records of security incidents and provide regular updates to stakeholders.
  • Highlight and present critical incidents to senior leadership, ensuring transparency and ongoing improvement in response capabilities.
  • Build and nurture influential partnerships with key stakeholders, serving as a bridge between cybersecurity and other cross-functional teams.
  • Review and refine the incident management plan based on learnings from previous incidents.

  • Proven track record in security incident handling and security operations, with an emphasis on mentoring and nurturing the growth of team members.
  • Strong understanding of network protocols, systems, and infrastructure security principles.
  • Display strong incident management skills, emphasizing operational excellence, quality, and consistency.
  • Exhibit strong crisis management abilities, maintaining composure and effective decision-making skills in high-pressure, fast-paced environments.
  • Ability to highlight and present critical incidents to senior leadership, ensuring effective communication and engagement at the highest organizational levels.
  • Remain updated on industry trends and emerging threats, sharing this knowledge with your team in an educational and motivating manner.
  • Lead cross-functional security projects that involve incident response, contributing to skill development among your team members.
  • Possess excellent communication skills to collaborate with cross-functional teams and convey complex security concepts effectively.
