As a Senior Manager Data Engineering, you will lead the design, development, and delivery of enterprise-scale data platforms across multiple clients and internal initiatives. You will combine technical mastery with strategic leadership, guiding teams in building scalable, secure, and high-performance data solutions. This role provides the opportunity to shape the data engineering capabilities, drive innovation in cloud-native architectures, and serve as a trusted advisor to stakeholders. Accountabilities:
- Lead the architecture, design, and implementation of end-to-end data platforms on cloud environments (e.g., Azure, Databricks).
- Define and oversee scalable, secure, and high-performance data pipelines for batch and real-time processing.
- Act as the technical authority across client engagements, ensuring platform reliability, monitoring, and cost efficiency.
- Mentor and grow teams of data engineers, fostering best practices in data modeling, governance, testing, and documentation.
- Collaborate with analytics, product, and platform teams to enable data products and actionable insights.
- Serve as a trusted advisor to senior stakeholders, translating business needs into robust technical solutions.
- Drive adoption of modern data stack principles, DataOps/DevOps practices, and cloud-native architectures.
- Master’s degree in Computer Science, Data Science, or a related field.
- 7+ years of experience in data engineering roles with proven leadership of complex projects and teams.
- Strong hands-on expertise in Python, SQL, and distributed data frameworks (e.g., Spark).
- Extensive experience with cloud platforms (Azure, Databricks) and modern data architectures (lakehouse, data warehousing).
- Knowledge of real-time data ingestion, orchestration, and workflow management (e.g., Airflow, Azure Data Factory).
- Experience with DevOps/DataOps, CI/CD pipelines, and infrastructure-as-code tools (Terraform).
- Solid understanding of data governance, quality, security, and compliance standards.
- Excellent communication, stakeholder management, and leadership skills.
- Fluency in English; Dutch proficiency is a plus.
- Consulting or client-facing experience, MLOps knowledge, and familiarity with modern analytics tools (dbt, Looker) are desirable.
