Job Summary & Location
The Senior Manager of Design Engineering leads and develops engineering processes and cross-functional teams and allocates company resources (hardware, software, and human) to address business needs and challenges. They support and contribute to the New Product Introduction design process, including packaging, assembly instructions, building production cell layouts, establishing task times, and generating bills of materials. The Senior Manager of Design Engineering also drives sales and profitability through new and existing markets, services, products, marketing channels, partnerships, and processes.
This hybrid position is based in Oceanside, California.
Primary Responsibilities
- Define new product scope by analyzing market trends and competitor offerings and providing data for Capital Expenditure requirements and price points to provide a design with specifiable features while eliminating scope drift and offering an appropriate profit margin.
- Research and develop innovative products by utilizing state-of-the-art technologies and market trends through trade publications, professional organization technical papers, and industry partnerships.
- Collaborate with development and supply chain to ensure readiness to support new and modified products, services, and processes.
- Identify and implement tools to support lead generation for Product Development.
- Partner with Acuity Business Systems to develop business processes that eliminate waste.
- Collaborate with suppliers to explore their capabilities and ensure we meet pricing, quality, and deadline needs.
- Communicate with and visit vendors to review and modify the designs as required.
- Train manufacturing during new product pilot runs to set quality and standard work guidelines.
- Present key features of products to train agents and specifiers.

Qualifications
- 8+ years of related electrical, mechanical, materials, quality, and industrial engineering best practice experience is required.
- A Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Industrial, or Electrical Engineering is required.
- Experience with 3D/2D modeling is required (SolidWorks and AutoCAD are ideal).
- Experience leading a team, developing new products, and analyzing market trends is preferred.
- Stay informed on current electrical codes and work standards practiced by electrical contractors in various locations.
- Experience with lean manufacturing principles, value stream mapping, and kaizen activities.
- Experience with Adobe Illustrator and Adobe ID is a plus.

The range for this position is $93,500.00 to $175,100.00. Placement within this range may vary, depending on the applicant's experience and geographic location.
