How you'll make a difference:
The Senior Engineering Manager is responsible for leading multiple managers and/or multiple high-level project team activities to develop concurrent and highly technical medical device systems from concept through market introduction and field support in accordance with FDA and ISO requirements. The Senior Engineering Manager will facilitate team recruitment, development, budget, planning, and process improvement activities on an ongoing basis. The Senior Engineering Manager will draw upon established expertise to help their team achieve solutions to a variety of complex technical problems. Work is generally independent, and some elements may be shared with engineering directors and above.
Your key responsibilities:
- Lead managers or engineers of highly critical-to-business design projects to develop and commercialize complex medical implant and instrument systems.
- Improve procedures and communication to allow teams to effectively interact with interdepartmental personnel and external partners to uphold project plans and achieve project objectives.
- Provide training, mentorship, and supervision to management and / or junior product development staff.
- Assist with field sales support and training.
- Effectively present / communicate needs of the franchise to a variety of audiences, including Senior Leadership, Sales, and Marketing.
- Attend, participate in, and lead departmental meetings as scheduled.
- Select, train, develop and evaluate staff as needed and appropriate to support growth of product group's business.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Who you are:
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor's Degree in Engineering
- 7+ years' experience in medical devices (Spine/Orthopedic device preferred) or MS degree and 5 years' experience
- 2+ years' experience managing engineering team of 3 or more direct reports (or fewer managerial reports) including recruitment and career development
- Demonstrated ability leading teams / team of teams and completing several projects on time and on budget with minimal supervision
- Expertise in FDA QSR and ISO 13485 principles, including Design Controls and Risk Management
- CAD experience required (Pro-Engineer/Creo, SolidWorks, or equiv.)
- Strong computer skills are required including proficient and accurate usage of CAD software (Pro-Engineer/Creo preferred), word processing (Word), spreadsheets (Excel), charting, flow charting, and graphs
- Ability to utilize a computer, telephone, fax, scanner, and copy machine as well as other general office equipment
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor's Degree in Engineering (Biomedical or Mechanical preferred)
- The ability to generate and present complex information in a simple fashion
- Command of interpersonal skills facilitating clear communication of expectations
The anticipated salary for this position for an employee who is located in California is $165,000 to $205,000 per year, plus bonus, and benefits. The final pay offered to a successful candidate will be dependent on several factors that may include but are not limited to the type and years of experience within the job, the type and years of experience within the industry, education, etc. The Company is a multi-state employer, and this pay scale may not reflect the pay scale for an employee who works in other states or locations.
