Senior Manager, Engineering

Primary Objective of Position: The Advanced Technology Group (ATG) focuses on customer-centric learning and applying advanced technologies for commercialization throughout the various business units of Winnebago Industries (WI). This role will lead the Central Development Group (CDG), responsible for taking identified ATG technology projects through the product development process, ensuring production-ready systems for commercialization by WI Business Units (BU). This role will also be responsible for providing engineering services to BUs as required.

Key Areas of Responsibility

• Stand up a group responsible for taking advanced technology projects to commercialization.
• Transition Proof of Concept (POC) projects to commercialization-ready projects easily implemented by BUs.
• Develop the processes, metrics, and dashboards to execute product development projects successfully.
• Define and manage the Statements of Work (SOW) with external engineering service providers.
• Conduct and facilitate design reviews.
• Conduct and facilitate technical risk assessments and mitigation plans.
• Develop detailed engineering requirements and technical specifications as required.
• Develop engineering designs, as required.
• Work with the validation team to develop and implement quality assurance and validation activities.
• Work with Business Unit Product Managers to ensure cost, quality, and functional requirements are met.
• Assist in the assessment and acquisition of relevant intellectual property protection.
• Engage with business units to understand their engineering support needs.
• Travel when required to visit vendors, conferences, trade shows, and other partners.
• Perform other duties as required.

Knowledge & Skills

• 5-10 years of engineering experience in a product development leadership role.
• Experience with on-road or off-road vehicles.
• Must be able to create and review functional, technical specifications, and system architectures.
• Knowledgeable in setting up Bills of Material for products consisting of mechanical, electrical, embedded systems, and other miscellaneous systems.
• Understanding of embedded systems and software architecture.
• Must be comfortable working on multiple projects with varying levels of complexity at the same time.
• Knowledge of functional safety, use-cases development, and other risk management tools.

Education qualification:

• Electrical, Mechanical, Industrial, or similar engineering degree, preferably MS or Ph.D.
