The Senior Manager, Events is responsible for developing the company's annual event plan, including goals, strategy, and calendar. This position will play an integral role in the planning, logistical management, execution to post-event measurement - including vendors, department and event budgets, and thematic content. This role requires the ability to organize disparate company and departmental activities and goals into one cohesive annual and event plan, presenting to and gaining executive approval. This person will also lead all cross functional and agency teams to ensure milestones are met, budgets are accurate and event execution is flawless. They serve as the hub for all related workstreams, including event logistics, creative support, content development and other critical event elements.

The Sr. Manager must be skilled at contingency planning and have the ability to redirect plans and partners to support program changes as needed. They will develop real-time solutions to strategic and tactical challenges throughout the year, as well as on-site. They will balance event best

practices with recommending new, innovative ideas, presenting cohesive recommendations that reflect the thematic goals for the company as well as each event. All events will align to previously established goals set by the senior manager and include consistent measurement elements to ensure continued learning and improvement.

PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Develop annual Company event plan, gaining support from stakeholders at the highest level of a matrixed organization and peer level partners, as well as external vendors and customers. Maintain event calendar and master budget and provide regular executive updates.
  • Maximize event outcomes that support multiple goals and objectives for the Company and various departments/teams,
  • Lead all aspects of event planning, coordination, and execution for large and small scale events, including event request intake and review, logistics consultations, budgets, managing venues and vendors, managing registration and invitation lists, overseeing event production, and preparing post-event follow-up outreach.
  • Serve as the hub for all cross-functional event support and related workstreams, keeping all partners apprised with accurate and timely information and updates. Manage key stakeholders on action plans and status updates against established timelines.
  • Work with the Marketing and Internal Communications teams to create engaging and

    innovative events and digital experiences and consistent messaging throughout.
  • Develop creative virtual event engagements for team members.
  • Create a playbook of best practices for every aspect of event planning, execution and return on investment, specifically for regular Republic Services events, including General Management Conference, Winner's Circle, Road-EO, Fall/Holiday Festival, Campus Events/Fairs, employee engagement, Town Halls, Charitable Events and off-site leadership retreats.
  • Develop and maintain core project management processes and resources that produce start-to-finish high-quality event experiences.
  • Define success metrics upfront; lead post-event reviews with vendors, internal partners, and other key stakeholders.
  • Anticipate recurring events by reviewing previous procedures, materials, and attendee trends, coordinating with the event lead in advance, and adjusting invitation lists, dates, and locations as needed

  • Negotiate favorable pricing and contract terms with hotel, meeting space, food and beverage, and equipment suppliers, among others.
  • Oversee management of budget expenses and communication of budget status on a regular basis. Ensure timely and accurate management of invoices, including approval for payment, reconciliation against planned and actual performance, and estimated accrual totals at end of quarter.
  • Stay current on event/lodging trends and suggest new approaches for consideration.
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned or apparent.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • MBA preferred
  • Excellent project management skills, attention to detail and independent decision-making skills.
  • Ability to provide creative solutions to problems, to initiate new ideas, adapt quickly to change, flexible, meet deadlines and perform well under pressure.
  • Excellent collaborative communication and interpersonal skills, with a demonstrated commitment to customer service. Experience presenting plans and/or formal presentations to senior leaders; strong verbal skills
  • Strong writing skills; a demonstrated ability to synthesize detailed information and provide the right level of detail to various audiences. Rigorous attention to detail is necessary, including the ability to meticulously proofread event communications, schedules, and programs.
  • Experience managing multimillion budgets and external vendor resources and relationships, with a track record of successful vendor negotiation.
  • Experience leading cross-functional teams and serving as an informational hub for multiple workstreams supporting high-profile events.
  • Ability to incorporate company brand, audience and value proposition to drive the theme of events and message consistency.
  • Ability to work effectively and influence others in a matrixed environment to reach agreement and gain support for strategies/tactics; strong customer orientation.
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, develop conclusions, and recommend appropriate action plans
  • Understanding of legal regulations and permits required for events.
  • Experience with health and safety event measures is preferred.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • 10 years marketing, communications and/or event management experience and/or combination of bachelor's degree and experience.
  • 5 years of event management experience for multi-day events with 500+ attendees
