Position Summary:

The Senior Manager, FP&A, Translational Sciences is a newly created role reporting to the SVP Finance, Translational Sciences.ย  The role is responsible for operations finance and financial planning & analysis within the Specialty Labs division providing customer, product and project gross margins and key metrics as well as serving as the finance business partner and P&L manager for both Commercial Central Lab Services Government Biorepository. ย 

This is a highly visible role and key member of the finance organization that will interface broadly with leadership and staff across all levels of Translational Sciences departments and global finance teams. This position requires the person to be an exceptional business partner and change agent to stakeholders across the organization including finance, lab/site operations and management, project management, sales and marketing, and IT/Enterprise systems - responsible for challenging and supporting the business, increasing Translational Sciences ability to anticipate business issues and identify opportunities, and driving decision-making through diligent financial management.ย  The successful candidate must be capable of driving detailed, hands-on tactical execution with the ability to function at a broad-based, strategic level understanding the business operations and growth drivers.

Essential functions of the job include but are not limited to:

  • Responsible for developing and managing pricing and gross margin financial analyses and models for Specialty Labs products, projects, and customers.
    • Prepare monthly and ad hoc reporting and analysis to explain business drivers and prepare updated forecasts for product, project and customer revenue.
    • Develop both leading and lagging metrics to measure and provide business insights on performance.
    • As pricing subject matter expect, partner with Proposals, Lab and Legal teams to review sales proposals and support/advise pricing reviews, discounts, and other contract terms and conditions.
    • Partner with Finance Business Analysis and Systems team to ensure data integrity of key inputs for pricing and gross margin and deliver automated reporting and dashboards related to analysis.
    • Support the development and modification of accounting/financial policies and controls, including producing highly automated financial schedules from ERP and other applicable systems.
    • Responsible for managing the Central Lab Services P&L as the primary finance business partner to head of Central Lab Services providing financial support and analysis on revenue, margins, pricing, costs, headcount, and operational metrics.
    • Partner with Accounting, Shared Services and Finance Business Analysis teams to review CLS monthly invoicing and revenue, departmental expense and allocations. Understand and explain variances compared to budget and forecast.
    • Manage CLS annual budget formulation, monitoring, and presentation as well as monthly/quarterly forecast updates and variance analysis. Identify future financial and operational requirements inherent in the budget and forecast submissions.
    • Build and maintain efficient, flexible, and modular financial forecasting and analysis models leveraging enterprise systems and data tools to enable timely evaluation of financial performance and business decision support analyzing key metrics of bookings, backlog, revenue, headcount, non-headcount direct and SGA costs, capital expenditures, pricing, and investment cases/ad-hoc analysis.
    • Provide guidance and analysis to support pricing and discounting decisions for CLS products. This includes representing finance in cross functional reviews to recommend list prices for new products, setting the contracting and discounting strategy, and reviewing individual contract proposals
    • Assist business leaders in monitoring revenue and expense budgets/forecasts for each department
    • Responsible for managing the Government Contracts P&L as the primary finance business partner to head of Government Biorepository providing financial support and analysis on revenue, margins, pricing, costs, headcount and operational KPIs.
    • Provide oversight and analysis of government monthly billing, working with Share Services and Project Managers to ensure accuracy and efficiency in accordance with contractual requirements.
    • Support government contract cost accounting and pricing, including calculation and review of incurred costs and indirect rates.
    • Serve as the primary finance interface with government audit and procurement personnel including leading the development, analysis and submission of responses including incurred costs, indirect costs, overhead cost rates.ย 
    • Provide financial support and analysis in responding to federal government contract RFPs, proposals, and renewals.

Qualifications:


Minimum Required:

  • Bachelor's degree in finance, business administration, or, accounting
  • 8 years plus of progressive accounting/financial experience inย roles with financial accountability and leadership responsibility; consulting and business partner experience required

  • A hands-on style with the ability to effectively resolve problems and complex issues and with the confidence to intervene and challenge the business when appropriate
  • Strong focus on process, system and data improvement with the ability to initiate and drive change
  • Demonstrated capability to control a thorough accounting close, reporting, forecasting, and budgeting process
  • Mastery of financial modeling and data analysis in excel
  • Strong leadership and mentoring skills to effectively delegate and develop a higher performing and professional team on an ongoing basis
  • Must be able to read, write, speak fluently and comprehend the English

Preferred:

  • MBA and CPA preferred

This compensation range takes into account the wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including but not limited to: skill sets, experience and training, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. The disclosed range estimate has not been adjusted for the applicable geographic differential associated with the location at which the position may be filled. At Precision, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range for their role and compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case.ย  This role is also eligible for a discretionary annual bonus, health insurance, retirement savings benefits, life insurance and disability benefits, parental leave, and paid time off for sick leave and vacation, among other benefits.
