JOB SUMMARY 

We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Senior Manager, Global CAPEX Project Controls to join our team. As a Senior Manager, Global CAPEX Project Controls, you will play a critical role in the success of our Global Engineering group, headquartered in Bothell, WA. 

This leadership role manages the global capital process in support of growth initiatives at AGC Biologics, and is responsible for overseeing the systems, processes and analysis that monitor the performance of the global CAPEX program.  Specifically, the Project Controls Manager provides both the process and the outcome analysis for reporting on individual projects and the global portfolio of CAPEX.   

The Project Controls Manager ensures project timelines are managed and monitored. Similarly, tracking the portfolio and individual project budget(s) including critical analysis of the forecast. This individual will lead the development of global portfolio reporting processes in terms scope/schedule/budget, providing critical impact and forecast analysis. In addition, the Global CAPEX Project Controls Manager will review capital cost estimates and assist with business case development. 

 

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES 

  • Support global CAPEX projects by ensuring proper monitoring and control, leading to project outcomes in line with expectations. 
  • Ensure timely and accurate reporting of the AGC Biologics portfolio of CAPEX Projects. 
  • Create an effective CAPEX portfolio management system including KPIs and dashboards. 
  • Work with the CAPEX Project Managers to ensure accurate reporting and forecasting.  
  • Oversee and facilitate trend analysis and forecasting of project performance. 
  • Ensure the Engineering Change Management process is used effectively on projects. 
  • Create and manage a process for estimating including the appropriate cost/work breakdown. 
  • Assist with a governance system to evaluate the health of a project in line with the CDP process & stage gate reviews. 
  • Participate in the capital planning process by assisting with the capital budgeting and estimating process for all AGC Biologics sites. 
  • Develop and oversee global capital project controls standards, best practices and schedules, ensuring compliance. 
  • Assist with the creation of AGC Biologics Project Management Office (PMO). 
  • Implement global project management systems such as Primavera (or OPC), Asana, etc.
  • Be an advocate and Subject Matter Expert for the AGC Biologics CAPEX Delivery Process (CDP)
  • Participate in Site Master Planning for the network of sites.
  • Participate in contractor conflict resolutions and disputes; implement corrective measures as necessary.
  • Provide regular capital portfolio performance/updates to global leadership.
  • Communicate issues or risks in a timely and effective manner; develop contingency/mitigation plans to address/resolve complex issues.
  • Ensure all capital project close-out activities are completed, including identification of lessons learned.
  • Drive operational excellence and continuous improvement.
  • Other duties as assigned by AGC Biologics.  

 

KEY SUBJECT MATTER & LEADERSHIP SKILLS 

  • In depth technical knowledge of project controls systems and processes. 
  • Knowledge of current best practices, principles and standards of engineering, architecture, construction methods, procedures and policies associated with construction project management. 
  • In-depth understanding of work (or cost) breakdown structures and the estimating process. 
  • Experienced in developing portfolio management and reporting processes. 
  • Ability to interrogate and analyze project management reports, trends and estimates 
  • Familiarity with pharmaceutical plant design. 
  • Understanding of the commissioning, qualification and validation process related to GMP. 
  • Proven expertise in planning/organization/execution of complex capital projects, preferably in a GMP environment. 
  • Demonstrates a disciplined approach to making decisions that are based on data and facts and is consistent with Vision/Business Goals and Values. 
  • Ability to drive consensus with multiple stakeholders to achieve results.

QUALIFICATIONS  

Required: 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Finance, a technical discipline or a related area of study. 
  • 12+ years’ Experience in large capital project portfolio delivery, with at least 4 years at the global or portfolio level. 
  • Experience in project management systems and their implementation. 
  • Experience in a Life Sciences (GMP) related industry. 
  • Experience managing a team and delivering complex CAPEX projects. 
  • Equivalent education and experience may substitute for stated requirements. 

 Preferred: 

  • PMP/Lean / Six Sigma certification desirable. 

 

COMPENSATION RANGE: 

$124,320 – $170,940 

 

Fluctuations in the job market may necessitate adjustments to pay ranges. Final pay determinations will depend on various factors, including, but not limited to experience levels, knowledge, skills, and abilities.

Benefits available to Team Members include subsidized insurance for the Team Member and designated dependents (medical, vision, dental, life and disability), eligibility to participate in the AGC Biologics 401(k) plan (including a generous matching contribution from the company and immediate vesting), vacation, sick time, and parental leave.

Team Members are also eligible to receive a discretionary annual bonus commensurate to the level of the role. The payout is based on both the company’s performance and the Team Member’s performance.
