What you'll do...
Senior Manager II, Big Data/Cloud
Leads and directs in large-scale, complex, cross-functional projects by reviewing project requirements; translating requirements into technical solutions; directing and reviewing design artifacts.
Leads the work of cross-functional groups of ten to twenty engineers, including offshore associates, for assigned Engineering projects by providing pertinent documents, direction, and examples; identifying short and long term solutions and timeline; reviewing and approving proposed solutions.
Implementing new architectural patterns; and performing design and code reviews of changes.
Directs root cause analysis of critical business and production issues by reviewing and analyzing information (for example, issue, impact, criticality, possible root cause); directing actions as designated in the plan; interpreting the results to determine further action; directing root cause analysis to prevent future occurrence of issues; and reviewing and approving online documentation. Supports business objectives by collaborating with business partners to identify opportunities and drive resolution; partnering with business to define priorities; identifying short- and long-term solutions; and leading cross-functional partnership. Leads the discovery phase of large projects to develop high level design by partnering with the Product Management, Web Operations, Project Management, Business and User Experience teams; obtaining cross-function approvals; driving proof-of-concept; and implementing prototypes to validate ideas.
Drives the execution of multiple business plans and projects by identifying customer and operational needs; developing and communicating business plans and priorities; removing barriers and obstacles that impact performance; providing resources; identifying performance standards; measuring progress and adjusting performance accordingly; developing contingency plans; and demonstrating adaptability and supporting continuous learning.
Provides supervision and development opportunities for associates by selecting and training; mentoring; assigning duties; building a team-based work environment; establishing performance expectations and conducting regular performance evaluations; providing recognition and rewards; coaching for success and improvement; and ensuring diversity awareness.
Promotes and supports company policies, procedures, mission, values, and standards of ethics and integrity by training and providing direction to others in their use and application; ensuring compliance with them; and utilizing and supporting the Open Door Policy.
Ensures business needs are being met by evaluating the ongoing effectiveness of current plans, programs, and initiatives; consulting with business partners, managers, co-workers, or other key stakeholders; soliciting, evaluating, and applying suggestions for improving efficiency and cost effectiveness;
and participating in and supporting community outreach events.
The ideal candidate will be an individual who has had experience developing and supporting complex data models at scale, and who can communicate nuance assumptions and data models to several levels of executive management .

You'll make an impact by:
- Conducting industry and competitive analysis to understand Walmart's opportunities to make better use of capacity through efficiency analysis and by leverage new techniques in cloud.
- Partnering with our Business Partners and Global Technology teams to ensure consistent standards related to cost and capacity modeling.
- Bringing Passion to capacity planning to ensure that Walmart is prepared for any contingency.
- Building a team environment by partnering to solve problems and staying focused till there is a solution
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related discipline, or equivalent experience
- Experience with Hadoop command line administration, including use of logs to debug job and systems issues related to Spark, MapReduce, Tez, Hive, Pig, and Apache Ranger.
- Basic experience with Linux system administration, including software installation and networking and storage system configuration.
- Linux command-line system administration experience.
- Basic knowledge of networking, including DNS and DHCP.
- Basic Experience with scripting languages such as bash, Python.
- Ability to explain technical concepts to a non-technical audience.
- Any Experience with configuration management- preferably Puppet or Ansible.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience working with Hadoop big data technologies, such as Hadoop Streaming, Hive, Pig, HBase, or related technologies, in traditional cluster and cloud-based deployments.
- Experience with common cloud resource provider resource management frameworks.
- Experience with SQL database systems and database technologies (e.g., MySQL, Oracle, Cassandra).
- Experience building web-based user services using common web frameworks, such as Python/Django, PHP/Fuel, and similar.
- Experience with system administration automation frameworks, such as Puppet, Chef, or Ansible.
- Experience with Kubernetes based infrastructure and tools.
- Experience with metrics and monitoring tools like Prometheus and Grafana
- Awareness of DevOps and experience in using related tools for observability and telemetry such as, Git, Github, Jenkins/Gitlab, Grafana, Prometheus, Splunk, Agents like statsd, collectd, fluentd, fluentbit etc
- Intermediate level cloud platform knowledge preferably GCP and Azure
