West Monroe is seeking a Senior Manager with current business / technology consulting experience to join our growing IT Strategy and Business Process Outsourcing (BPO) team within our Operations Excellence practice. West Monroe’s Operations Excellence practice is focused on driving value from strategy through execution—not merely pointing to best practices and standards. We enable clients to realize the enduring benefits of IT, business, process, and organizational optimization by delivering real, sustainable adoption. Our solutions focus on value creation through the lenses of people, process, and technology across functional transformation and related platforms, productivity, and transformation enablement. Each consultant within our Operations Excellence practice is aligned to one of six focus areas including Financial Management, Organizational Change Management, Portfolio & Program Management, Supply Chain Management, Productivity, and IT Strategy & Business Process Outsourcing. Â
IT Strategy and Business Process Outsourcing Senior Managers have experience leading consulting teams and managing client relationships, and providing IT and functional strategy and process optimization solutions in support of large-scale process/technology projects and/or other transformational initiatives. Senior Managers in this practice lead multiple workstreams and/or teams of 2-5 resources by structuring approaches, tailoring methodologies and tools for client specific needs, driving client actions to meet project timelines, managing deliverable quality, and managing project scope and financials. Senior Managers, if necessary, continue to demonstrate their capabilities as individual contributors to meet project needs. They develop and execute IT and functional transformation and optimization strategies including sourcing and procurement events, process discovery and analysis, and requirement gathering facilitation. Senior Managers are expected to be able to envision, structure, and document compelling and creative solutions and recommendations, as well as develop and cultivate relationships with senior level client stakeholders. In addition, Senior Managers help develop and enhance the practice’s methodologies and tool sets, and integrate these with other consulting solutions (e.g., technology and industry focused practices within West Monroe). Senior Managers also define new consulting offerings based on their market insights gained through client service.Â
Senior Managers should have experience in the following types of activities: Â
- Leading teams of 2-5 consultants, including across multiple workstreams and projectsÂ
- Demonstrating proficient skills and experience in analyzing processes/workflows, defining process improvements, and identifying productivity improvementsÂ
- Structuring quantitative analyses and conducting quality assurance on quantitative analyses performed by other team membersÂ
- Applying strong attention to detail to all work, both quantitative and writtenÂ
- Leading complex programs and project teams on IT strategy, process optimization, or sourcing initiatives including defining workplans, determining how to leverage project methodologies and tools, and structuring the work of team members
- Selecting and managing technology and service providers Â
- Articulating and communicating project issues and proposing resolutionsÂ
- Identifying and documenting project risks and developing effective migration and contingency plansÂ
- Defining project scopes, work plans, resource plans, pricing estimates, and presentations to be able to assist in selling work to clientsÂ
- Managing the development of financial models, defining data requirements, identifying assumptions, and modeling cost-benefit analysis
- Structuring storyboards to communicate insights and results of analysisÂ
- Managing deliverable quality and ensuring that complex concepts are communicated clearly, concisely, and completely in PowerPoint formatÂ
- Working in a collaborative team environment on complex transformation initiativesÂ
- Establishing and cultivating senior-level client relationships, and facilitating discussions with client counterpartsÂ
- Identifying opportunities and actively contributing to pursuits, both opportunities for follow-on consulting projects and new opportunities outside current client engagements
- Managing project teams to ensure high-quality client service delivery and resulting deliverablesÂ
- Working with IT outsourcing and/or business process outsourcing service providersÂ
- Establishing and/or overseeing systems integrator responsibilities for solutions such as ERP and CRMÂ
- Negotiating contracts with service providers across IT and business process services, hardware, and software categoriesÂ
Responsibilities: Â
Client Delivery: Â
- Structuring and developing client deliverablesÂ
- Managing deliverable quality
- Developing Request for Proposal and Request for Quote documentation with associated pricing models and response evaluation modelsÂ
- Collecting, organizing, cleansing, and manipulating large data sets; deriving and presenting insights resulting from the analysis of those data setsÂ
- Assisting team members in their quantitative analysis and performing quality assuranceÂ
- Managing consulting resources to meet project timing expectations, within budget and scope, and to client’s satisfactionÂ
- Facilitating client interviews and meetings to understand client operations and processes, collect information, and determine adjustments to be made the project approach and activities based on findings
- Leading teams of consultants, , providing the structure and guidance for deliverables, and performing quality assurance of deliverables developed by the teamÂ
- Communicating and reporting project status to client executives including budget, risks, issues, etc.Â
- Managing project economics by tracking project budgets (expected vs. actual), creating and submitting invoices to clients, and managing collections/receivablesÂ
- Identifying, documenting, and quantifying improvement opportunitiesÂ
- Counseling, mentoring, and developing staff on the job and through formal and informal feedback and guidanceÂ
Practice Development: Â
- Participating in and supporting the development and enhancement of the IT Strategy and BPO methodologies, tools, offerings, and other collateral (e.g., methodologies, benchmarks, case studies)Â
- Participating in internal efforts related to strengthening and growing the IT Strategy and BPO practice thought culture building and knowledge sharingÂ
- Participating in thought leadership activities by drafting articles, case studies, white papers and other related efforts
- Collaborating with local office leadership to define how to align the practice with office strategy and other practicesÂ
- Participating actively in the performance expectation process by acting as a Career Advisor and Coach to other consultants and providing performance feedback to advisees and project team membersÂ
- Participating in recruiting and retaining top quality consultantsÂ
Business Development: Â
- Identifying opportunities and actively contributing to pursuits, both opportunities for follow-on consulting projects and new opportunities outside current client engagementsÂ
- Helping to define business needs and requirements and then translating them into concrete project plans and detailed client proposalsÂ
- Determining scope, tasks, timelines, resources and identifying issues and risks to build into statements of work and capability presentationsÂ
- Creating work plans, pricing estimates, and risk assessments for opportunitiesÂ
- Building a professional network and affiliate network in the local communityÂ
Qualifications: Â
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience required Â
- 8+ years of experience in providing technology and/or business process advisory consultation, at least 3-years of which would ideally be with a professional services firm Â
- Experience managing projects on an end-to-end basis with minimal supervision
- Experience in strategic sourcing and / or outsourcing advisory Â
- Successful track record of business development for a professional services organization, including a solid professional network Â
- Outstanding analytical and problem-solving skills Â
- Experience negotiating complex technology, business process or outsourcing contracts Â
- Excellent writing, communication, financial modeling and presentation delivery skills
- Experience within one or more of West Monroe Partners’ core industries including Energy & Utilities, Healthcare, Manufacturing, Insurance, Consumer Products, Banking and/or Private Equity Â

Based on pay transparency guidelines, the salary range for this role can vary based on your proximity to one of our West Monroe offices (see table below). Information on our competitive total rewards package, including our bonus structure and benefits is here. Individual salaries are determined by evaluating a variety of factors including geography, experience, skills, education, and internal equity.
Employees (and their families) are covered by medical, dental, vision, and basic life insurance. Employees are able to enroll in our company’s 401k plan, purchase shares from our employee stock ownership program and be eligible to receive annual bonuses. Employees will also receive unlimited flexible time off and ten paid holidays throughout the calendar year. Ten weeks of paid parental leave will also be available for use after successful completion of one year of employment.
