The Role:

Generate is seeking a highly experienced and collaborative Senior Manager, Lab Operations, to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will have a broad background in managing research and facility operations in the biotech industry.

Here's how you will contribute:

• Laboratory Equipment Management: Oversee the support and maintenance of advanced laboratory equipment, including integrated liquid handling systems, custom microfluidics platforms, Next Generation Sequencing (NGS) core capabilities, tissue culture facilities, and multi-modality protein production equipment at various scales. 
• Team Leadership: Lead and manage a dedicated team of Lab technicians and support staff, ensuring efficient day-to-day operations and fostering a collaborative and productive work environment. 
• Facility Maintenance: Coordinate general facility maintenance tasks, ensuring a clean, organized, and functional laboratory environment. Monitor and respond to critical off hours alarms. 
• Vendor and Contractor Coordination: Manage relationships with external vendors and contractors for equipment service and maintenance, ensuring timely and cost-effective solutions. 
• Operational Efficiency: Develop and optimize laboratory workflows, processes, and procedures to enhance operational efficiency and productivity incorporating the Maintenance Management System (CMMS) and other technology tools. 
• Budget Management: Oversee Lab Operations budget planning and management for the site, ensuring cost-effective use of resources and alignment with financial goals. 

The Ideal Candidate will have:

• BSc/MSc in a science/engineering field (Biology, Chemistry, Biotechnology, etc.)  
• Minimum of 7 years of experience working in a BL2 laboratory operations environment, including previous management experience. 
• Knowledge of lab safety and OSHA regulations  
• Strong leadership and people management skills. 
• Excellent organizational, communication, and decision-making skills. 
• Demonstrated expertise in the setup and management of laboratories. 
• Strong technical skills, with a passion for continued learning.  
• Exceptional organizational and communication skills, both verbal and written. 
• Proficiency in local, state, and federal guidelines for safety, shipping, waste disposal, and pH systems. 
• Training/certifications in DOT Ground Transportation, Hazmat, General Lab Safety and CPR/AED/First Aid preferred.
