Senior Manager of Analytics (Product)

NYSHEX is a SaaS provider focused exclusively on serving the container-shipping industry.  The container-shipping industry suffers from complex, hard to track, and harder to enforce commercial agreements between ocean carriers, NVOs, shippers, and 3PLs.  NYSHEX provides the technical infrastructure for all stakeholders to align on, track, and enforce contracts.

At NYSHEX the value we provide our users depends on our ability process complex data covering vessel schedules, shipment plans, and movement of individual containers across the globe.  We are constantly stretching to find new ways to derive insights from this data so we can not only tell users what is happening in their supply chain, but also uncover root causes and recommend corrective actions.  These recommendations cover immediate shipment plan changes, longer-term supply chain strategy adjustments, and better informed sales discussions.

The role of Senior Manager of Analytics will report directly to the head of product management and take a leading role in defining our innovation agenda at NYSHEX.  The impact will not just be theoretical, the goal is to prototype solutions rapidly and push results to users in creative ways.  The new solutions can either be general solutions to be tested with the full NYSHEX user base, or designed in partnership with a specific launch customer.  Once new concepts have been validated the Senior Manager of Analytics will then work with others on the product team to determine how and when to best scale-up the solution.  Given our context as a fast-moving startup, the role will require both leadership and hands-on individual contributions.  Initially the leadership aspects will be focused on coordinating with existing teams who handle data processing and data engineering, but with the intention of growing the analytics innovation function to include supporting analysts and data scientists over time.

A good candidate will have:

·       3-5 years hands-on experience in complex analytics projects, covering data exploration, insight derivation, and data visualization

·       Experience communicating the results of multiple complex analytics to executive-level audiences in large enterprises

·       Comfort operating in fast-paced environments, managing tight timelines

·       Comfort working in Alteryx or similar data processing tools, or the ability to manipulate data within data visualization tools such as Tableau and PowerBI

·       A passion for technology and a desire to learn about product management in SaaS

Nice-to haves:

·       SaaS product management experience

·       Experience with logistics management, in particular container shipping

·       Basic coding experience (SQL, python, Matlab, etc.)

Salary Transparency Disclosure

In accordance with New York City Local Law 32, the expected salary for this role is between $140,000 to $190,000, plus a comprehensive benefits package. This role may be eligible for additional compensation in the form of bonuses and/or stock options as well. The bottom of our salary range represents the minimum for a candidate who meets the qualifications for the role. All offers to candidates will ultimately be based on that candidate's individual experience and skillset, and not every candidate will qualify for the top end of the salary range.
