Job Summary

Senior Manager, Global Student Engagement develops strategic initiatives and leads a team of coordinators and/or student support specialist across seven campuses in the implementation of practices and services to support the access, persistence, and post-graduation success of Dallas College global student populations. The Sr. Manager is responsible for the training and coaching of their team and works in collaboration with departments across divisions to support a successful case management model for students served by the area. The Sr. Manager works with community organizations to help students connect to local resources and is responsible for recommending global education programs that support Dallas College internationalization efforts.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Knowledge of the purpose of community colleges and the vision of Dallas College.

  • Experience leading or managing major change initiatives.

  • Employ and deploy data-informed and results-oriented initiatives.

  • Ability to identify and address opportunities and challenges that arise as a result of Dallas College’s current transition.

  • Understand contemporary issues in higher education is required through professional development activities. 

  • Experience working with student support programs (counseling, threat assessment, health & wellness programs, etc.) as a CARE Team member.

  • Ability to maintain the confidentiality of information exposed to during business regarding students, supervisors, or other employees.

  • Knowledge of applicable laws and regulations regarding student discipline.

  • Share governance and evidence of a strong ability to work effectively and collaboratively with administration, faculty, students, staff, and other constituent groups and partners, both within and outside a college or university.

  • Experience in strategic planning, assessment of program(s) and services’ effectiveness, and development of guidelines to enhance student success units within the institution and with accrediting bodies.

  • Excellent time management and organizational and problem-solving skills.

  • Ability to stay informed of the rapidly evolving legal, social, and political landscape impacting community college students.

  • Knowledge and understanding of student development theory, current issues, and trends in student affairs and student development.

  • Experience working with students from multiple backgrounds including but not limited to first generation college students and a proven record of implementing high impact practices leading to student post-graduation success.

  • Skilled in strategic, operational, and/or integrated planning.

  • Utilize interpersonal skills, behaviors, and tactics in navigating complexity, transformation, and daily tasks.

  • Critical-thinking to effectively solve and communicate problems in a fast-paced environment where the demands for work are varied, and unpredictable in scope and volume.

  • Maintain confidential and sensitive information.

  • Analyze data and provide sound recommendations based on policy, procedure, practice, and existing regulations.

  • Delegate work appropriately to meet College and campus deliverables.

  • Communicate effectively, verbally and in writing, complex ideas, and information to a variety of stakeholders/constituents.

  • Computer applications and enterprise systems usage, including proficiency with word processing, spreadsheet, and presentation software.

  • Collaborate and align efforts vertically and horizontally across the organization to achieve goals.

Physical Requirements

Normal physical job functions performed within a standard office environment. Reasonable accommodation may be made for individuals with physical challenges to perform the essential duties and responsibilities.

Minimum Requirements

  • Master’s degree in a related field. Official transcripts required.

  • Three years professional, full-time student affairs work experience at a college or

  • university with proven ability to plan strategically, develop innovative service models, collaborate with internal and external stakeholders, and develop and fiscally manage budgets and resources.

  • Three years of leadership and experience supervising full-time student affairs professional staff and graduate and/or undergraduate student staff, advising department student organizations, training staff, and crisis response.

  • Bilingual or multilingual preferred

  • Current and valid Texas driver’s license required.

  • Strong background in working with student populations and substantive understanding of a diverse communities.

  • Experience working effectively with students from the full range of diverse populations.

  • Experience managing budgets.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide support and strategize engagement opportunities for students of various global origin communities.

  • Develops, implements, and conducts a comprehensive department assessment plan that includes but is not limited to evidence of student learning, student and customer satisfaction, monthly Department Dashboards, and Impact Reports.

  • Recruitment, supervision, training and coaching of global student engagement coordinators and global student support specialist.

  • Participates in various committees, professional trainings, industry conferences, and conventions.

  • Support of cross divisional enrollment, persistence, and retention efforts in alignment with Dallas College strategic priorities.

  • Develops and implements a robust marketing plan that encourages and promotes campus engagement reflecting a continuous increase in student participation in programs and initiatives from the department of Global Student Engagement.

  • Assessment of services and programs tailored to various global student populations.

  • Building partnerships to connect students to local resources in support of post-graduation success.

  • Management of departmental work-study students and institutionally funded student employees.

  • Directs and supervises the efforts of staff and sets performance standards and accountability.

  • The position is required to be on campus. Although the senior manager will be housed at a specific campus location, the individual will be supporting students, programs, and events across the seven Dallas College campuses when needed.

  • Completes required Dallas College Professional Development training hours per academic year.
