The Corporate Engineering team is responsible for building / providing services and infrastructure that empower our employees to be successful. A foundational area of focus for this team is to provide secure network connectivity to employees and applications and ensuring security across all layers on infrastructure

As the Senior Manager of Network & Security, you will be responsible for Networking and Security of the infrastructure to grow the function globally as we continue our hyper-growth. You will be an important member of the Corporate Engineering leadership team to promote best practices while building automation and continuity with multiple application, security and compliance needs . You will provide vision, direction and development to the Network and Infrastructure team members, which provide the secure connectivity solutions and oversee implementation of security initiatives to support Databricks goals.

This position is based in San Francisco OR Mountain View, CA and will report to the VP of Infrastructure


Expected Outcomes

  • You will provide global and regional network infrastructure services that support Databricks offices and its Cloud infrastructure. Achieve an average network uptime of at least 99.9% across all Databricks offices and cloud infrastructure.

  • You will design an implement a state-of-the-art infrastructure. This includes: global Wifi, LAN,WAN infrastructure for enhanced employee experience and productivity

  • You will Manage the daily activities and development of the wired and wireless enterprise network and site associates supporting the network.

  • You will design and implement IT security programs in partnership with security and compliance teams with joint OKRs.

  • You will partner with Information security to establish governance and applicable metrics to track and improve Databricks security posture.

  • You will develop a culture that stays current on the latest cyber security trends, latest technologies, threats, and incorporate appropriate safeguards / controls into the SimSpace Cybersecurity Program

  • You will oversee and ensure quality of infrastructure projects related to Network and Security, through entire lifecycle including planning, design, implementation, ongoing support, and decommissioning

  • You will help develop IT strategy, roadmap design, and standards definition

  • You will Improve upon the use of IT software and hardware investments to provide a standard global environment

  • You will Manage budget and important vendor relationships with carriers and suppliers, influence their product strategy, and ensure understanding of service level agreements, lead contract renewals and RFPs

  • You will lead by example to create a culture of Continuous Improvement (CI), cross training, and inclusion throughout the department

Qualifications:

  • Over 7 years of experience with demonstrated expertise in managing a team in network engineering design, implementation, and support

  • Success in managing a large network annual expense budget and complex capital projects with direct business impact

  • Background and understanding of network designs and services used in supporting a large US and growing global network

  • Expert understanding of local area networks (LAN), wide area networks (WAN), Software-defined networks (SDN), remote access technologies, provider capabilities, network protocols and Network Access Control

  • Familiarity with network and endpoint security protection tools

  • Experience with firewall rules/protocols and endpoint detection and response security tools

  • Expertise in information security principles, practices, and technologies, including security architecture, network security, identity and access management, threat intelligence, and security operations

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to quickly resolve complex technical issues.

  • Management experience leading teams, developing strategy, and implementing plans.

  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology or equivalent experience

  • Vendor management skills, understanding of how to nurture and grow relationships with multiple vendors.

Pay Range Transparency

Databricks is committed to fair and equitable compensation practices. The pay range(s) for this role is listed below and represents base salary range for non-commissionable roles or on-target earnings for commissionable roles.  Actual compensation packages are based on several factors that are unique to each candidate, including but not limited to job-related skills, depth of experience, relevant certifications and training, and specific work location. Based on the factors above, Databricks utilizes the full width of the range. The total compensation package for this position may also include eligibility for annual performance bonus, equity, and the benefits listed above. $187,400—$331,700 USD
