Position Overview 

Reporting to the Executive Director of Programming, the Senior Manager of Programming will work closely with the conference co-chairs to research topic and speaker ideas, manage high level speaker recruitment, create content development plans, and communications for in-person and virtual events. The Senior Manager of Programming will play a critical role in ensuring all interviews and talks are produced to the highest of standards. This person will also work closely with the edit, sales, and marketing to ensure all teams are aligned on the event content. 

 Primary responsibilities: 

  • Work with the wider conferences team in creating program structures and keep all internal stakeholders (newsroom, marketing, sponsorship, press) updated on information that is relevant about our events in a timely manner 
  • Research, identify and confirm speakers
  • Write event overviews and session descriptions for assigned events
  • Write scripts for assigned events
  • Keep current with business trends and maintain personal network of business contacts
  • Manage all associated follow-up details and communications regarding the events, such as program schedule and confirmed speakers, with both internal and external stakeholders
  • Demonstrate high level of professionalism while working with senior officials, executives and their offices
  • Schedule and run regular programming meetings with editors, co-chairs and other stakeholders 
  • Provide weekly status reports to the larger team
  • Help maintain speaker database
  • Back-up support for all events as needed
  • Pitch new content ideas for program agenda to editorial teams
  • Travel (including international) to support the onsite program execution is required
  • Maintain awareness of best practices, market trends, competitive activity and leverage across conference platforms 

 Professional/Personal Qualifications 

  • Live event experience is a must 
  • Strong writing skills is a must 
  • Adaptable to a rapidly evolving environment 
  • Smart, strategic and creative mind-set with exceptional attention to detail and creative problem-solving skills  
  • Publishing/media experience is highly valued; appreciation for the brands is essential 
  • Superior communication skills (verbal and written) and the ability to work collaboratively across functions and departments
  • Possess a fast, efficient and quality-focused work ethic. Demonstrated ability to respond to deadlines with urgency and effectively manage competing priorities
  • High level of initiative and self-motivation 

Location: NYC (hybrid); must be commutable to our office headquarters in lower Manhattan

Salary range: $90,000 - $110,000
