PRIMARY PURPOSE:

The Sr. Manager of Special Events oversees creative marketing for all property events and the project management of events including casino marketing, sponsorship activations and other events at the corporate and property level, supports Event Directors in project management for cross-property and corporate events and leads a team of Corporate Special Events Coordinators and On-Call Representatives. The Sr. Manager of Special Events is a crucial team member who has great flexibility and enthusiasm for a wide variety of projects and events across several different environments both inside and outside of MGM resorts.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Oversee, hire, manage and set goals and objectives for a team of Special Events/Corporate Special Events Coordinators. Responsible for

  • hiring and managing a team of (30) On-Call Special Events Representatives.

  • Manage the scheduling of support staffing to all LV Special Events to ensure proper support and success for property events

  • Provide an open-minded, solution-driven and creative project leadership through planning, procurement, execution, reconciliation stages of event planning and creative marketing. This includes the organizing of production meetings and schedules to plan, lead and track progress on items like invitations, secondaries, decor, audiovisual requirements, convention set-up, staffing, safety and gaming compliance, overall set-up and strike

  • Serve as a liaison for the Special Events Property Management teams, CoE teams, Creative Services, Corporate Special Events Staff, partners, vendors, departments and divisions on all relevant matters; research and resolve problems related to events, creative marketing and the event planning process.

  • Contribute to developing and providing input to new processes and standards in Special Events and Creative Marketing operations and lead the Special Events Property Management teams in implementation.

  • Develop and manage corporate and all-properties Special Events communications and shared files such as the corporate Special Events

  • Teams site and the Special Events all LV properties detailed event calendar which issued by all corporate and property Special Events Teams

  • Provide on-site management of events including ensuring the timing, execution, and challenge resolution that meet the high-level of standards of MGM Resorts International. This also includes the oversight of on-call event staff working to execute on a program, both inside and outside of MGM properties and providing high levels of customer service to all stakeholders.

  • Lead and serve as daily partner and communicator between the Creative Services team and property Special Events management teams to provide direct mail and digital marketing, and secondary communications for events and promotions.

  • Ensure that the Special Events property and Creative Services teams stay on-track to meet deadlines and provide valuable and relevant input in design and copy.

  • Be able to determine what creative solution and project management entails but understanding and valuing role clarity in creative partners.

  • Support strategic initiatives and seek innovative opportunities for corporate and all-property events in support of MGM Resorts, Casino Marketing, and all other stakeholders.

  • Lead the strategy/planning of all-property corporate, sponsorship, CoE (Table Games, Slots, HR) events, such as the annual Employee Holiday Parties and leads/assists the Property Management Teams in facilitation of events.

  • Perform other job-related duties as requested.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor's degree in Hospitality/Hotel Business Administration or related field, or equivalent experience.B242
  • Two (2) years of events experience.

  • Significant experience in providing on-site judgement.

PREFERRED:

  • Experience with casino events.

  • Experience in working with sponsors. Experience in working on property.
