Senior Manager, Operational Accounting

Venture Global LNG (“Venture Global”) is a long-term, low-cost provider of American-produced liquefied natural gas (LNG). The company’s Louisiana-based export projects will service the global demand for North American natural gas and support the long-term development of clean and reliable North American energy supplies. Using reliable, proven technology in an innovative plant design configuration, Venture Global’s modular, mid-scale plant design will replace traditional designs as it allows for the same efficiency and operational reliability at significantly lower capital cost.

We are seeking a Senior Manager, Operational Accounting, to join our Accounting team. The Senior Manager, Operational Accounting will report directly to the Director of Operational Accounting and will be responsible for the full cycle accounting and reporting for the operational activities and transactions associated with our LNG facilities and pipeline assets.  The role will be based in Arlington, Virginia.

Responsibilities:

• Manage all aspects of operational accounting processes associated with the Company’s LNG facilities, pipeline operations, and other associated business units. This includes, but is not limited to, Revenue and COGS (e.g., LNG, natural gas), all facility operating costs, commodities and warehouse inventory, maintenance, and other operational activities.
• Lead and support the Operational Accounting team
• Responsible for managing the monthly close activities of the Operational Accounting team
• Preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual analytics
• Review/Approve monthly accruals and correcting/adjusting entries prepared in the SAP ERP system.
• Review/Approve monthly account reconciliations for the accounts assigned to Operational Accounting and ensure proper presentation of account balances.
• Support commodity and physical warehouse inventory measurements, valuations and reconciliations.
• Lead the quarterly and annual FERC reporting requirements for our regulated pipelines
• Responsible for auditor quarterly reviews and audit requests.
• Liaise with internal controls and functional leads to support the build-out of new operational accounting processes and ensure proper internal controls are in place.
• Coordinate with corporate accounting team to ensure all operational activity is recorded, reconciled, and reviewed in accordance with corporate accounting’s monthly, quarterly and annual accounting close and financial reporting timelines.
• Support the FP&A team in providing timely operational results and analysis
• Build and cultivate relationships with our internal customers, such as the Middle Office, Commercial Operations, Gas Supply, and Engineering team members.
• Support new system implementations and lead system optimization efforts to automate processes and mitigate risk.
• Liaise between operations teams and corporate accounting and finance support functions.
• Other duties as required and assigned.

Qualifications:

• 5+ years of progressive experience in accounting operations and/or auditor roles
• Prior managing/supervising experience
• Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance
• CPA preferred
• Manufacturing/Operations experience preferred
• SAP experience preferred
• Ability to learn new systems and manage data
• FERC and/or other regulatory reporting experience a plus
• Experience with capital projects and/or construction accounting a plus
• Ability to work in fast-paced, high-growth environment
• Strong attention to detail
• Excellent written and oral communication skills
• Discretion in dealing with confidential material
