The Senior Manager of Performance and Careers will lead Duolingo’s performance and talent reviews company-wide, and launch and run new processes related to career development. Working closely with Talent Development, People Business Partners, People Operations, and leaders and managers across the company, the person in this role will have a large impact on the career progression of our employees and availability of talent in key positions.
You Will...
- Lead and administer the company-wide processes for performance reviews, promotion decisions, talent reviews, and manager evaluations
- Build or improve talent solutions such as career ladders, internal mobility, HIPO identification, and/or leadership planning, as needed by a growing company
- Provide expert consultation on function-specific and individual needs related to performance management or career development
You Have...
- Exceptional process management and operations ability. You can take hundreds of leaders and employees through a multi-step process, while driving high-quality decisions, maintaining accurate records and detailed documentation, and finding efficiencies.
- Exceptional judgment about ambiguous performance and talent situations, both organizational and individual.
- Ability to design company-wide talent solutions big and small that are effective, but also pragmatic, consistent with company culture, and scalable.
- Ability to communicate about performance and career development in a way that resonates with many audiences (non-experts, company-wide and executive-level, globally, etc.) in a variety of settings and channels.
- Ability to work with and troubleshoot talent technologies.
- Collaboration and resilience to drive iterative, cross-functional processes and change in a high-growth environment.
Requirements:Â
- Bachelor’s degree
- 5+ years of experience executing company-wide performance cycles or other high-judgment, leader-facing, operations-heavy people programs independently
- 2+ years of experience helping build frameworks to enable career growth or helping individuals navigate careers
- Ability to work full-time from or relocate to Pittsburgh, PA
Exceptional Candidates Will Have...
- Experience implementing pioneering performance and career development approaches and technologies for the tech industry
- Advanced education or experience in an HR, organization effectiveness, or career development field
- Passion for language learning or education
