Job Description: Senior Manager, Reliability Modeling and Analytics

Bloom Energy, a solid oxide fuel cell company, is looking for a Senior Manager, Reliability Modeling and Analytics. This person will lead team and activities to maintain, automate and continually improve reliability models and analytical capabilities to support product reliability improvements and service cost reductions. This person will work extensively with Management, Engineering, New Product and Sustaining Reliability, Service, Quality, Sales and Customers to achieve and communicate reliability advancements.

Location: This position will be based in Bloom Energy's San Jose, CA headquarters

Role and Responsibilities:

• Develop tools and methods to data mine various Bloom performance databases to track reliability and performance trends and to assist in root cause and corrective action problem solving.
• Develop and maintain portfolio of regular reliability analyses to track reliability trends and failure mode Paretos to lead reliability efforts.
• Lead development of RBD models and methods to evaluate customer site reliability and availability based on site architecture and redundancy. Also lead efforts for reliability projections based on historical data and known improvement activities.
• Drive improvements to automate analytical methods for improved efficiency and accuracy.
• Hire and train Reliability Engineers on Reliability Models and Methods as well as statistics to interpret the confidence of decisions made based upon their analyses. Also enforce focus on efforts to validate accuracy of analyses.
• Support sustaining reliability engineering and cross-functional teams in special analyses to help identify causes and contributors to performance or reliability issues being investigated.
• Support New Product Development efforts with Reliability Block Diagram models and analyses to roll up component reliability to system-level reliability estimates or to allocate reliability targets from system down to individual components.
• Lead development of RBD models and methods to evaluate customer site reliability and availability based on site architecture and redundancy working with engineering and Customer Installation Group (CIG).
• Lead efforts for reliability projections based on historical data and known improvement activities.
• Complete regular reliability analyses and update standard performance and reliability presentations for management, customers, investors, financial and third party engineering firms to support their due diligence efforts.
• Support efforts to improve data collection and databases for effective and efficient analysis.
• Track progress in reducing the cost of poor quality issues to our business.
• Develop reliability block diagram and Monte Carlo simulations and provide data to Product development, Service, Marketing, Finance and others to support predictions of service replacements and costs associated with supporting Bloom Energy fuel cell products.

Skills and Experience:

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Chemical, Reliability or Systems engineering with 8-10 years of experience minimum (or Master's degree with 6+ years).
• Preferable track of study or work experience in Reliability Engineering and / or data analytics.
• Strong data mining skills including expertise in SQL and Python with discipline and attention to detail for data and analysis validation and accuracy.
• Experience in data analysis using JMP, Minitab or other statistical analysis programs and Tableau for data visualization. In depth understanding in statistical methods to evaluate confidence of analytical results and decisions.
• Reliability Block Diagram, Fault Tree Analysis, Markov and Monte Carlo modelling experience using Reliasoft or other modelling software.
• Skilled at Root Cause and Corrective Actions (RCCA) using Six Sigma or 8D methods to solve complex problems working with cross-functional teams.
• Strong PC and Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint experience to enable the creation of professional reliability reports and presentations.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Salary Ranges:

$136,100.00 - $195,900.00
